We stayed for 5 nights whilst we explored Ella and it was really wonderful. The food was beautifully cooked, the room was warm and comfortable (and their cats slept on our bed every night which we loved!) and the service was great.
We needed a taxi - they ordered it. We needed laundry service - they helped us our. We left our bag in the taxi - they arranged to have the taxi drop the bag off at the hotel in Tangalle where we were staying.
I cannot fault, it was such a perfect stay,

This was our favourite stay in the whole of Sri Lanka. Karen has done a fantastic job with the place and it really feels like you are stepping into a veteran travellers home, which you quickly feel is your own.

Get a tuk-tuk from Ella town and you will zip along a small windy road up to the homestay. Upon arrival you'll see the location is stunning with views out to a waterfall from breakfast and the fields of vegetables strewn across the valley. Everywhere you look is the lush green hill country.

There are drinks available at any point and the food in the evening was nothing short of amazing, with varied meals throughout the week. The breakfasts are equally as satisfying with a different twist on each days meal, followed by beautiful jams, teas and coffees from a local plantation. Her staff are very handy and having her own chef really sets the food apart from anywhere else I've stayed.

The jungle room was perfect for a couple. It is small but who spends the holiday in the room when the rest of the house is so comfortable (and outside!). The wet room was fantastic, hot water was consistent and the view is amazing giving a 180 degree view of the valley Ella sits on. Going to sleep looking at the stars was unreal!

Karen is very knowledgeable about the greater area and was able to advise us on activities to do most days, including a great trip to Amba tea estate. She even gave us a 90km route to ride on our scooter which was magical as your cruised through the hill country well and truly off the tourist track.

The hospitality was second to none here, simply the BEST I have experienced in all my years travelling. Karen and her team are fantastic and VERY good and what they do. She personally made our trip memorable and even baked a cake for my girlfriends 30th birthday!!!

This place deserves all the praise and awards she is receiving. Stay here for a minimum of 4 days you won't regret it!

Have travelled quite a lot in the last 15 years and this was one of the best B&Bs I've stayed at! The view over the forrest to the waterfall from the outsided dining area was fantastic, my room [one of three] was spacious with ensuite and very tastefully furnished [including a Persian rug!]. Very good wifi. Breakfast was simple but very nice and kept me going for the day. The hosts [Karen and Martin] are from Australia and built the property 5 years ago so everything is in very good order. And they are very welcoming and friendly.
And wonderful value for money! If I'm ever in Ella again I will definitely try and stay here - thanks Karen and Martin

Arrived here in the dark, had to get a tuk tuk up the hill to get to this amazing retreat. There was a power cut when we arrived but within an hour the electric was back on. Martin was a great host, and his cook is fantastic. After travelling around Sri Lanka, we enjoyed the best chicken curry here, it was gorgeous! The drinks were flowing, and it was very cosy as there was only 9 of us there. When everyone went to bed we stayed up for a few drinks with Martin and had a great laugh, he is certainly a character. His wife was back home in Oz for a wedding so didn't get to meet Karen. The view in the morning was stunning, a magnificent waterfall close by, and our room was great. Only complaint here is that we could only stay for one night...

Room tip: As this is Martins home, I think there was only 4 rooms, and they all looked great.
