We stayed for 5 days to enjoy the beach and kite surfing. The hotel is beautifully white, not facing the beach but it is just about 50m away, they have provided a section on the beach front for the guests which is pleasant. The meals were nice but breakfast options could be enhanced, especially if staying for many days it could easily become boring. Check in and check out was all smooth. They were pleasant enough to lend us money that we paid back with our cards because there are no ATMs that side. The restaurant staff were rather uptight, it was difficult to have a conversation with them and language was not the issue, I think they were constantly afraid of making mistakes and annoying the owners who were at the hotel most of the time. Drinking water is provided only at check in and you cannot drink tap water, could be my fault but all other beach (hot weather) hotels I’ve stayed in provided at least half a litre of water per person per day, there was also no complementary beverage (tea bags etc and kettle) in the rooms, for the cost of the hotel this should have been included. We did a lot of room service and one particular staff, Elizabeth, was keen to know our preferences and ensured we were happy. Generally a nice hotel, just polishing of rough edges.

Dear Limmo,
thanks a lot for spending your holidays with us and for giving us such a wonderful feedback of your stay. We are providing a completely filled mini bar on arrival complimentary for all our guests. True the refill is on charge, but only with those beverages you request. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the comfort of our room service and hope to welcome you back another time soon.

We spent 4 nights on half board (best option) and enjoyed our stay. Rooms are quite new, although basic, very clean and spacious with basic amenities and a mini bar. This was full on arrival, free of charge, although refills are payable. We would have liked tea and coffee making facilities and my wife a hair dryer. Wi-Fi is patchy and no emails went out (disappointing in this day). We were right next to Paje beach, which is a large and interesting beach with great walks and a Mecca for kite surfers (also great for a learner and kids). The hotel has a small private beach area next to main beach, but loungers can run out and as local wooden items are not that comfortable (although better than plastic).

Breakfast was reasonable with fruit and cooked and the champagne was a good idea. Dinner was limited but Hedda explained that they were working on the menu and we were very happy with the meals; healthy and not fattening with good wine. The day excursion to Stonetown was good (but expensive) and Nurin the driver and guide was very knowledgeable. He showed us the slave market museum, cathedral, slave memorial and fort, etc but avoid touristy spice shop at the market. The area between the hotel and beach belongs to someone else who has not repaired his buildings which were destroyed in a storm, but not responsibility of hotel. Beware 5% surcharge for paying bill by credit card (not good for an expensive place). Cash is best.

I’ve stayed 4 nights in this hotel. When I’ve enter I felt being in Algarve (south of Portugal). The hotel is quite nice comparing with the ones in Paje. The room is ok ( they could improve the shower and bathroom) but a little old. It’s quite nice to spend the evening in the terrace. Half board not worthily because the food is normal (dinner menu don’t have to much to choose). The breakfast is good but don’t arrive 5 minutes late because they are going to make you pay (really upset when the waitress told me to pay breakfast because I arrive 5 minutes late ). The drinks are good a little expensive in my opinion. Service good. Swimming pool little but ok to take a late bath. Careful Fridays night you don’t sleep because there is a place nearby call Jambo that puts music until 4 am. Beach club good and quite peaceful. It’s an expensive place taking into consideration the quality. Please clean the surroundings around the hotel.

- Food is mediocre at best and very little choice on the dinner menu
- Beach is very small and not at all peaceful since there are so many kite surfers and it can get very busy so you need to consider what kind of holiday you want. Those who came to kite surf seemed enthusiastic, those who just wanted to relax were fairly bored especially since the weather was so temperamental when we were there (July) so sunbathing wasn’t much of an option
- Sunbeds often lack the padding which flies away with strong winds, this makes the sunbeds very uncomfortable
- Both sunbeds and beach towels run out by 3pm
- Street vendors walk up and down the beach aggressively trying to sell souvenirs or tours to the hotel residents
- So many insects everywhere, this was the only place in Tanzania where we were genuinely concerned about mosquito bites
- Not much to do in the evenings since there are bats and mosquitoes in the bar area and nothing inside the rooms (no TVs and WiFi is patchy)
- Although the rooms are super basic they are very nice, bright and airy with beachy vibes and a swimming pool right outside
- Parts of the resort are completely falling apart, abandoned buildings, rusty bathtubs left in the middle of the grass, no one seems concerned enough to clean it up

Dear guest, thank you very much for staying in Dhow Inn and for taking your time to give us your feedback. We understand that Kite surfing is not for everybody therefore we offer fantastic excursions that can be done during the daytime, especially when the weather is not perfect for sunbathing. Regarding flies or mosquitoes we are trying our utmost to reduce them and usually in the times with strong wind, as you said you had it, there is not really a chance for mosquitoes to stay around. The abandoned building you are talking about we would like to correct your feedback, as it is not part of Dhow Inn. It is a neighbour hotel that is doing some changes and as it is not our property we have no allowance to remove any belongings of this other hotel, we hope for your understanding.

We were very disappointed with our stay at Dhow inn..I have written this review in relation to the amount of money paid by us.Wi-fi was patchy at best, the rooms are simple ,white and big, fabulous airconditioning but no door to the shower area and sink was in the room itself..dinner was very basic buffet not too many choices and very average food.asked the staff a couple times for  salt and pepper but it never came to the table..will have  to a agree with a previous reviewer that the staff seems very disinterested and not motivated enough.they did send a cake to our room to celebrate my son's birthday but we had finished our dinner by then..breakfast was nothing to talk about with the champagne  being the only saving grace..overall had  we paid half of what we did, would have been fine but being  travellers that look for value in what we pay we were very disappointed..we were to stay for 2 nights but checked out after 1 night.
The check out process was again was an ordeal with a lot of back and forth going on between the staff..they insisted we pay for 2 nights at first..once convinced that we had not committed anything they prepared the bill..added a couple of bills that did not belong  to us,extra infrastructure charges etc..basically extremely incompetent..left a very bad taste in the mouth..
We moved to another property paid about USD 90 more and got unlimited alcohol, fabulous meals and great service...<br>
Our expectations were not met!
Disappointed!!
Would not recommend!
