We arrived at the 31st of december. The hotel it self is beautifully located next to the ocean and all the small houses, restaurant etc also look very nice! Than we arrived at our room and there it smelled like a cat had just urinated in it. When I went complaining to the manager he said he would take care of it and one minute later it smelled like toilet refresher in the whole room. I don't know witch one was worse.. Than we wanted to have a shower and charge up our batteries but this wasn't possible because there was no electricity or water. This was actually the case on two of the three days we were here. At night sleeping was made impossible because of an mosquito plaque and a retired fan that moved so slow that it made no difference if it was on or off. There was also no ac. After a night of no sleep we arrived at breakfast and there was hardly anything left. And when I just wanted to take the last bit of juice the manager just arrived there before me and took the last bit out for him self. After breakfast I wanted to go into the ocean but this was impossible because of al the sea urchins that were laying in de coast line. Instead of that I decided to take a dive in the unclear poolwater and order a toasty with a coca cola from the menu and after 45 minutes the staff told me they were out of bread and coca cola. The only very positive things were the nice staff and the beautiful location.

We spend a week at the Tanzanite which was truly unforgettable!
We met there to surprise a friend for her birthday and some of us didn't see each other since months.
All of us were seeking for relaxation and calmness to get the most out of the time we had together - and that's exactly what we found at the Tanzanite!
From the moment we stepped in the resort until the moment we left the entire team made us feel like at home.

The food, both during breakfast and dinner, was always really good and served from the super sweet and kind waitresses Fatuma, Zeyneb or Teddy. It is not 5-star gourmet service, if you're expecting this. But an honest smile and pure friendliness is worth a lot more no?

The bar & restaurant runs under the supervision of Ayoub - a young local waiter, who trained himself as well as his ladies and he did and does an amazing job. Always up for a chat, he took very good care of us all week long.
The cleanliness of the rooms was also exceptionally good, a huge thank you to the ladies who are doing this job in the African heat!
Not to forget are Fadil, the Resident Manager, and James, the General Manager. Every time we walked to the reception either one of them or both welcomed us with a huge smile and they were always very helpful in term of trips or things to do.
Last but not least: the location is just like the Garden Eden itself. From each and every single corner you can see the unbelievably blue ocean, hammocks are available for an afternoon nap between palm trees and the pool helps to refresh - as the ocean itself isn't too cool actually.
It wasn't too busy when we were there, so the whole place somehow felt like "ours", what made it even more special!
A big big THANK YOU to everybody at the Tanzanite for welcoming us so warm and making this week memorable!!
We will for sure be back!

For the money it is ok. No a/c, very erratic wifi and no access to the beach because the sea washed up the steps. A very basic hotel in a good location. The staff were all very obliging. Unfortunately communication was not easy as some of the staff's command of English was not great. All in all it was a great adventure.

The location is absolutely beautiful. It is literally paradise with clear blue water and white sand! Be sure to sit on the beach as the tide comes in as the rocks creat tiny private beaches that are just incredible. The staff here were fantastic especially if you make an effort with them. We noticed a few rude and dismissive guests during our stay but the fact that we were polite and chatty to the staff meant that we undoubtedly enjoyed our stay more than others! The food is beautiful- one day we even saw a fresh fish being delivered and it was served that evening and was one of the best meals I have ever eaten!!! They hosted an African night with a traditional buffet and african dancing and market stall. It was a fantastic experience and I'm so glad the hotel put it on as it made our stay extra special. Our room was huge and very clean with a private bathroom and balcony and the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. I honestly cannot recommend this hotel enough!

Tanzanite was definitely a wondeful surprise! amazing location, large spacious rooms that is cleaned everyday! wi fi was great in every area even in my room! no connectivity when power goes off though.

The staff were all friendly from reception to restaurant staff. They had organized a nice african theme buffet and dance show which was a wonderful delight. The breakfast is lovely and included in the price, everyday between 4-5pm tea/coffe and cake is served complimentary.
The food is good though priced on the higher side. I especially enjoyed the fresh juices.

As for the beach, it is subject to low and high tides. at low tides, a walk on the beach is possible...with just the right tide ( not too high or low) swimming is possible with swim shoes that are provided by the resort ( risk of sea urchins)

The beach buts and hammocks with sun lounges are an amazing place to sleep/ read or just relax while listening to the waves and enjoying nice cool breeze ( my fav spot)

i also enjoyed a nice massage by the pool area overlooking the ocean. The massage lady really kneaded well using coconut oil and later clove oil as requested. Truly refreshing though priced higher ( expected at resorts) but well worth the pampering.

Nungwi and tanzanite for 2 days was the epitome of unwinding and calm....paradise bliss!!

Room Tip: garden view at a good deal
