This is suppose to a five star resort. Serving up low quantity food- like tuckers ice creamThe food at the beach hut and grill is poor and unattractive. You wait near an hour for a poor meal which is expensive , over cooked, and expensive. We aren’t fussy people but so let down.... The service was very poor... had to get up and ask for what we needed...we went away hungry.. cutlery is dirty.

Given that there isn’t much else to eat at lunch time in the resort, it’s not too bad.

Our waitress Talica was fantastic, always happy and helpful.

The lunch time food is quite simple, the dinner menu is different to the lunch menu and quite good but it’s always busy at dinner so you will need to book a table.

It’s located in a nice spot so you can watch the water, people snorkeling, kids playing on the inflatable playground etc. lots of shade and a good place for a drink during the day.

Good food and service with variety. Glad the dress code wasn’t too strict as quick and easy to get back to the water.

We stayed at the Shangri-La and our room was overlooking the Beach Bar&Grill so we tried it the first night we were there. Kids eat free from 5.30-6.30pm which is great. The menu isn't that varied but the Kokoda starter is really good (ceviche in a coconut) and the waiter chopped up the coconut after at my request so got to eat that too :)
The mains are mostly very expensive steak or hanging kebabs. I got the chicken kebab which was served with mint yoghurt and really tasty, well cooked. We also tried the mixed kebab on another night which wasn't as nice and served with a weird thin gravy.
I can recommend the chili choc volcano dessert, it was a nice gooey centred muffin served with chili choc icecream, quite good really (pleasantly surprised).
The bar is set down by the waters edge which is really nice and they have 3 guys playing guitar/ukulele and serenading the diners each night, which gives it a nice atmosphere.
Overall I think the setting is nice but food and drinks are overpriced for what they are - better options to dine in the village.
