In contrast to the other recent reviews, we had a great stay!
We booked last minute via booking.com and had our code to check in within 5 minutes. Room was quite basic but clean and for what we paid really good value! Really enjoyed the free breakfast included in our booking!

We booked this hotel on Booking.com and received the codes for the doors about an hour after.
When we arrived at the hotel we realized that the heater in our room wasn’t working. So over the next two hours we tried to call the contact number given in the email and in the entrance area but we were always told that the line is busy. We also tried to contact them via email, but nothing. So we ended up sleeping with jackets, hats and scarfs as it was -3 degrees outside and the room was freezing cold.
When we went down for breakfast, which was included in the price and meant to start at 8am, the breakfast room was still closed. At 8:45am the cleaning staff told us that there is no breakfast. There were six more people waiting for their included breakfast. We tried contacting them again as we are not willing to pay for this and requested a refund, but still nothing yet.
They are just taking money of tourist, so don’t stay there!!!!

TERRIBLE. We slept in the car in the middle of winter because we couldn’t check in after driving an hour out of the way. We booked this place while In iceland, the day we wanted to stay there because it showed availability. We get there and the entire hotel is shut down; no lights on, no one there. We call the phone number over 20 times and it says “busy, call back”. Even Expedia couldn’t get through to them over the course of 45 minutes. Then we go to the restaurant across the street while on hold with Expedia to get a refund and the restaurant staff says this happens all the time and that the hotel eventually blocked the restaurants number because so many people were calling... it’s literally a scam. Avoid at all costs...

I enjoyed this accommodation the most during our stay in Iceland was one of three cities we had been and this hotel was hands down the nicest. Our room was very clean and simple but had a sink in the bedroom which is nice for cleaning up and brushing your teeth without having to use a shared bathroom. Shared bathroom and shower were also very clean and updated. Good location as well and had an excellent bakery across the street as well as another nice restaurant on the the other side (this hotel sits on an intersection) I would recommend both. The hotels breakfast is typical buffet breakfast style but the food was good and the staff always made sure there was plenty of food whenever a tray got low it was immediately refilled.

Also nearby is the Olafsvik professional football stadium which is quite small but well suited for Iceland. Not much to see but not many professional clubs can you just walk up to pitch like this, would have been nice to have been able to see a training session or game while we were there but wrong time of year.

Anyhow would highly recommend this hotel if I am ever back I will definitely be returning.

My husband and I arrived at 8 pm on October 12, 2017. This hotel has self check-in. For some reason, I did not receive the required check in code and room number. The lobby has a phone and number to be called for help with check in problems. We called this number continually until 9 pm when the system shut down. No one answered. Consequently, we could not check in. Since Welcome operates most other properties in the area and uses only self check-in, we could not find another hotel. We slept in our car in 40 degree temperatures and high winds. The following day, we were able to email the hotel and received codes so that we could check-in for the remainder of our reservation. Welcome Hotels refuses to accept any responsibility for our dilemma. They refuse to refund any of the amount we pre-paid. The room we ultimately used had a faint smell of mildew and mildew around the window. This is NOT a customer friendly place to stay.
