I've been putting off writing this review because I have so many wonderful things to say about this property about Little Corn itself. My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights in mid-May and everything was top notch. We stayed in a bungalow with a plunge pool and highly recommend room #4. The bungalows are right on the white sand beach and the view is amazing. We spent full days lounging on the day beds on our patio, reading, going in the pool, going in the ocean, having a drink and repeating the whole process.

We loved that you can use the kayaks, SUPs and snorkel gear for free. We took advantage of that everyday. We would have liked to have gone a snorkel tour to reef that's farther out, but we just never got around to it.

Yemaya is on the other side of the island from the town, but the walk isn't bad. It's about 25 minutes and even though the path isn't paved, we did the walk many times in flip flops. As others say, make sure you bring a headlamp or torch - it's pitch black at night. The view of the stars from the baseball diamond is incredible. Also, if it rains, the path can get very muddy, so just keep that in mind.

The staff and Yemaya was so kind and lovely! Ashanti waited on us every day at breakfast and we miss her! She remembered what we liked and had a great personality. Also, Karen at the spa was great!

The boat ride over was great both ways. We did get soaked on the way there, but the way back was very calm.

A quick note - I've seen reviews here complaining that Yemaya is expensive. Yes, it is more expensive than other places on the island, but you are on the nicest property on the island! If this hotel were in Hawaii or Bora Bora, there's no way we could afford it. We felt we got amazing value for our money. If you want to save on food costs, just walk into town in the evenings for dinner. That said, the restaurant and the drinks were less than we pay when we go out at home.

Yemaya is magical. We can't recommend it highly enough! Thanks to the wonderful staff for making our trip perfect!

Room Tip: Room 4 has a plunge pool and amazing view

My family of four - adult daughters- just returned from a stay at Yemaya and it was really enjoyable. The rooms are very comfortable with powerful fans and AC not to mention just really gorgeous. Such incredible views from nearly everywhere on the property. The staff is amazing. The operations manager is Marco and he works tirelessly to make your stay special. He greeted us on the beach for arrival and surprisingly joined us in the restaurant at 5:30 am the day of our departure and many times during our stay.

The food in the restaurant is quite good. We particularly enjoyed the breakfasts but lunch at the beach bar of tostadas and fish tacos was great too.

The resort is somewhat isolated- a good 30 minutes to the dock by walking but you can get a water taxi through the hotel for $15 a person round trip and they wait for you and that’s a better option to me.

There is very nice snorkeling right off the beach and a really large reef if you walk out of the resort and head left down the beach. Saw big sharks and rays with no boat required!

You can book a boat through the hotel for snorkeling or fishing. There are also businesses on the beach next door. The Fry Bar is fabulous for drinks and food - ceviche and lobster were great. I wouldn’t book snorkeling or water taxi through the bamboo hut between the Hotel and the Fry Bar (pic included) I booked him for a water taxi round trip with a two hour window but when we arrived at the Turned Turtle (I also recommend!) they were closed (Sat. Night) so we headed right back but he demanded the full fare. Even worse he didn’t have change and promised it the next day, and the next... just a crook in my opinion. Too many other nice people to do business with.

This is a unique, remote, romantic, upscale and laid back resort. I highly recommend a visit.

Dear Guest,

It is indeed a great pleasure to note that you enjoyed our hotel and the island. The details you have mentioned in the review are very much useful for the hotel and for everyone who would like to experience Little Corn. At Yemaya it is our endeavor to create memorable experience consistently, to enhance the experience our concierge always go beyond to organize any services in the hotel or outside ranging from any assistance in the hotel to booking an external transport or a table in any of the other restaurant and we always suggest to go through us to avoid any such adverse experiences.
We truly believe the instance with external transport shall be taken as a sole experience and you would be visiting us again. Thanks once again for the feedback and we look forward to welcome you back to any of our Colibri Boutique Hotels again soon.

Sincerely
Sumesh G

My boyfriend and I spent a week at yemaya in bungalow 1 with the plunge pool. The property is beautiful and the staff is terrific. They truly did everything possible to accommodate us and everyone was very kind.

Some things we wish we had known before (although it would have no changed our decision to go):

-the hotel does not have a pool so getting a bungalow with the plunge pool is highly recommended
-the dining options at the hotel are limited. They have a great drink menu including smoothies and breakfast is pretty good. However, for lunch the menu doesn’t change and for dinner they seem to circulate a few variations of the same things.
-if you are staying as long as we did, you will definitely want to venture out for other food options
-bring cash, as some other places around the island are cash only
-bring a good pair of walking shoes/tennis shoes that you don’t mind ruining (for walking around the island and to other restaurants) most are a 15-30 minutes walk.
-don’t forget to use OFF insect repellant, the hotel will gladly provide you with some, spray religiously
-DONT BRING A DRONE (ours was confiscated in Managua and it takes a few days for them to approve it to go back with you. If they don’t approve it in time then you’ll have to leave without it.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for the kind review, indeed my team and I are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Yemaya and the service delivered. Your suggestions about the food is well noted, we recently have compiled the menu you experienced based on the suggestions and palates as per the guest’s feedback received but are glad to received more feedbacks to fine tune it. Also about the island, as you know this is a virgin destination at its best with no motor ways, as you mentioned rightly we also would advise our guests to carry trail shoes as part of the trail can be muddy if it rains. Lush greens and thick woods which makes our Island very beautiful also attracts lots insect especially during to rainy season, however we keep our rooms clean as per the standards and have the doors closed every time to deliver a comfortable stay.
Thank you once again for your visit and the feedback, we look forward to welcome you back to any of the Colibri Boutique Hotels soon.
Sincerely

Yemaya is tropical paradise that brought adventure and relaxation to my Little Corn Island experience. It's a must when traveling to Nicaragua and it's a reason to decide to travel to Nicaragua. One of the first things a staff member told us upon arriving is that 'we are like family at Yemaya and we hope you feel a part of it.' There is a gorgeous Miskito sailboat run by Miskito sailors who tell you about their story and history of boating in their culture while they take you snorkeling or for a sunset cruise- we had to do both (plus watermelon, champagne and ceviche were incredible bonuses)! I've never seen water so crystal clear. Yemaya is a truly indulgent experience- I can't say enough about the memories Yemaya helped me create! Plus the beach bar has swings!
