It's an adventure to get here but worth every moment. We landed on BCI around 12.30pm and rushed to the boats by taxi - we're city people, we rush. We then realized that we hadn't converted to 'Island Time'. The pangas (speedboats) leave around 4pm. So we had time to grab some lunch and relax at the restaurant in the port. Then made our way to the jetty waiting area around 3pm, bought our tickets around 3.30pm ($7 each). If the first panga fills up, they'll fill a second one. No problems.
At 4pm we finally raced over the sea to LCI - 30 minutes on a choppy wet ride. Your big luggage is stored in a dry area but you'll probably get a bit wet yourself. I always get seasick but the pangas are so fast and only have an up/down motion (no lolling side to side) so I was surprisingly fine.
There will be a staff member from the LC Beach and Bungalows waiting to take you and your luggage from the jetty. It's a 10 minute stroll and you'll feel the refreshing breeze as you approach the east side of the island where the bungalows are. This is critical and will help you sleep - trust me.
The Bungalows are such a perfect balance of eco (water/power preservation methods), luxury (beautiful bungalows), service (lovely staff) and fun (lots of beach gear to use and yoga). Every time we walked elsewhere around the island and then returned to the bungalows we felt ourselves exhale with happiness - "We're home". It's such an oasis. Don't get me wrong - the rest of the island is lovely but the bungalows environs are even more special.
Oh, and don't get me started on the food. Delightful.
Stay here if you can, but book ahead. There are only a few bungalows.
