It is always difficult to write yet another good review of a place that has had so many accolades heaped on it. But I must do so, as I was utterly charmed by the Ceylon Tea Trails and in particular by Tientsin and its lovely crew.
We made our own reservations and everything ,including a few special requests ,was dealt with quickly and competently.
All the good things that have been said about Tientsin are true. It is beautiful and charming, a feeling of hospitality and generosity prevails, the staff are committed to look after the guests and nothing is too much trouble.
We stayed in the Moir Garden Suite , a very gracious room with its own terrace overlooking the garden and teaplant covered mountains. Sitting on this terrace with tea being served by our butler was tranquil bliss.
It was also rather nice to have a drink and a chat before dinner with the other guests and we were lucky to enjoy the company of three delightful honeymoon couples who came from different corners of the world.
The food at Tientsin was well presented, tasty and served with ellegance and we all looked forward to meal times with anticipation of yet another lovely relaxing occasion.
The marked walks into the teahills provided stunning scenery and a welcome bout of gentle exercise after all the prandial delights. Walking through the tea trails seemed like a geography book from ones primary school days come to life.
As said on numerous occasions before, the guided tour and talk by Mr Andrew Taylor was an unmissable highlight. He is interesting and interested.
Regarding costs , I think the Tea Trails deliver what they promise and for that the charges are fair and are competitive with similar establishments.
