Eranga and Viji are incredible hosts. They went above and beyond to make sure our time in Mirissa/Weligama was the best possible experience. This beautifully renovated old colonial villa had very spacious rooms and all the modern amenities we needed. Although it was a 15min tuk tuk ride away from the beautiful Mirissa and Weligma beaches we thought the villa was really good value for money. Trishaw rides were very reasonable and for us it worked out a lot cheaper than the accommodation near the beach. We have no hesitation in recommending this place.
I fully recommend this beatutiful house and the people running it: the owner Viji and his crew Sarath and Prianqha. It was a great pleasure to spend 3 weeks on this exceptional place and I can't praise them enough. Comfy rooms and great service.
It spoiled us in the evenings and became a sanctuary as well as an exile from the real life of the country, almost like a sanctuary with fragrant gardens and fresh fruit in abundance. Close enough to the beach and the nearby tourist town and at the same time so peaceful and serene. This place provides a sense of calm and relaxation.
It's really hard to describe in words our feelings and our elation in this property.
I hope you will enjoy it as much as we had.
Our second visit to Hilltop view Colonial villa, Matara.
A short drive off the expressway, along a country road, across the paddy fields to Hilltop view villa; a warm & welcoming colonial bungalow located in a coconut plantation.
Tastefully renovated & furnished preserving the grandeur of a bygone era.
Traditional Sri Lankan cuisine at its best. Ambulthiyal fish curry and curd & kitul treacle are 'must haves' during your stay.
Plenty of safe, open spaces for the kids to cycle, run around and play a game of touch rugby or cricket. The kids absolutely loved this interesting garden. A bath at the well by the paddy fields was a welcome refresher after the mid-day drive from Colombo.
In case you run out of things to do ( which is highly unlikely) a snake farm is a short drive away. (The knowledgeable Ayurvedic physician was happy to showcase his collection of rescued snakes which were to be released in Yala) ( A cobra from the snake farm is seen in the pic ).Mirissa beach/Whale watching (during the season) is 30minutes away.
The hosts provided useful tips on local delicacies and with planning visits to places of interest.
