This is the second trip to Sri-Lanka with my family (2 older teenagers). The Villa is excellent and the setting extremely nice. The staff we found to be very attentive to our needs and friendly. Although the villa is manner 24 hours each day it still feels as if the villa is your own home without intrusion from others. The villa is very private and the river adds an extra special sense of tranquility. The gardens are very tidy. The pool is excellent and much larger than that normally associated with holiday accommodation. Food may be booked daily with the staff and all meals are cooked at the villa. Trips to various locations can be booked on-site and transport to/from Colombo airport is provided. Local transport is readily on hand and can be booked with Tuk-Tuk drivers know to the villa owner. The villa is well placed to provide easy access to a number of interesting places via Tuk-Tuk or a passenger van. Trips on the river may be taken daily - all is very safe with the small boat being expertly handled by one of the on-site staff (special thanks given). The boat trips provide an opportunity to see local birds up close as well as some very beautiful scenery - it is an added bonus. The villa is very spacious and A/C works well. Security is not an issue. The beach is within less than 10 minutes walk. It presents long stretches of golden sand with the added benefit of being virtually empty. Booking is simple and no hassle. A most enjoyable stay. Thank you to the on-site team.
Stayed for a week and were incredibly comfortable and extremely well looked after by the team. It's a bit like staying in your own private hotel with Damianthi and Muthu cooking delicious breakfasts and evening meals to order, cleaning and doing your washing, and Susil and Supun helping serve dinners, keeping the property sorted and arranging tuk tuks or boat trips. Swimming, reading, eating and visiting local areas of interest, Galle all fabulous. Sudath, the Manager contacts you each day to check if any arrangements needed and was always most helpful. Finally thanks to Tusha (hope we have spelled this correctly) who drove us on a number of trips and back the airport at the end of the week.
Although September is described as the rainy season and it did rain briefly each day but - most of the time we had gorgeous weather. Great time to visit Ambalangoda particularly because there was a fabulous annual parade we got to enjoy with dancers and amazing sights. Even without the parade - the interesting sights from the house included lots of local fishermen, picturesque sunsets, enormous water monitors and monkeys. Amazing place to stay.

Gangananda exceeded all our expectations. The house is nestled on a quiet street and you're facing a fabulous view of the river. The place itself (in addition to being very contemporary) was spotless and cleaned everyday. The staff were so polite and cooked the most scrumptious meals. I can't recommend this place highly enough to anyone considering staying here. Can't wait to come back. Very professional job.
