It was December 4, 2007, Mr. Ba Shwe opend a small "bar" on Nagapali beach: One table and two chairs under a new, so green umbrella.
He served fresh coconut juice and local spirits. We are proud to enjoy his perfect sunset place now for 10 years.
Wow, many things changed in this time. He and his wife Tin Tin improved bar and restaurant every year. Today we find delicous dishes on the Menu, the Cocktail list is long... and it is good to have a reservation for dinner :-)
What remained the same: his warm hospitality!
Mr. Ba Shwe, Congratulations and Good luck to You and Your family!

After a week here we found our favorites. Very friendly staff here. Very good food, it's not ready so it's very fresh! One of the best on the beach.

Ngapali beach has a cluster of bar/restaurants at about its mid-point. Don't be surprised - these are not high class outfits, with sophisticated facilities, posh menus and silver service. They will never win health and safety or hygiene awards, nor will they get Michelin stars. No, these are beach restaurants. But if you want to taste some of the best of Burmese food, especially sea food, then this is the place to come to, and the Green Umbrella is the best of the bunch.

Grab a seat as the sun goes down, and enjoy a beer or a cocktail. Return later for a table for dinner, and the experience is complete.

They will tell you what is fresh today - barracuda, white snapper, chicken etc., so that you can go for the tastiest options. Then you need to decide how to have it cooked - fried, grilled, curried, steamed, BBQ'd etc. - and what to have with it. There is a lot of choice. My favourite was the Sea Food Tempura.

Everything comes at a very reasonable price, and with a smile. You have to try it, and then you will want to keep going back!!

Nice little restaurant towards the end of Ngapali Beach. For starter and main for two people and a few cocktails and beers it didn’t even top 30,000 Kyats. Excellent value for money and extensive menu with plenty of seafood on offer.

Some of the front tables closest to the sea get reserved but they made space for us in between bookings with ease. Alternatively just book in for the following day. That being said the tables behind the front row still offer nice views and don’t have the risk of the sea creeping in!

Just remember to bring a torch for the walk back to your hotel down the beach!
