Driving round in Phonsavan looking for a room we saw these appartments on top of a hill. Arriving on the top you first come across a restaurant and they told us to drive further up the hill (This was the breakfast room)

Arriving on top a friendly young guy showed us the appartment which looked good. Spacious room with a big bed. Amazing views like you can have in Los Angeles.
Bathroom is small with a shower en toilet. This part of the building is getting a bit old.
If you order a beer they will get it for you from the restaurant but don't expect any food.
We have our own car so for us this was not a problem.
Only problem was we had very noisy neighbours (Probably expats form outside Laos) and unforunatly the rooms have very thin walls. So if you book here try to get a room with no neighbours... There are two appartments under one roof...
We probably would have stayed longer if the walls where better...
But the views are worth it...

Room Tip: Try to get a room with no neigbours. Rooms have great views but walls are thin...

Wow, this place is amazing. Could be something really special win stunning views etc but it is cold and friendless. Almost no one there to help guests and try speaking English..no tuk tuk service from town after about 9pm when Phonsavan totally closes down. Fortunately we got the owner of the local cafe to arrange a car for us. Going down the slope to breakfast was a chore. The meal itself was.....different!

Room Tip: Looking to the hills or the city are equally good

We had a few day stay at this hotel while traveling in Xieng Khoung. The rooms are overlooking the endless beauty of Phonsavanh town. Oh boy, how amazing view it was. I took morning jog up and down the hill and the air was so naturally fresh. The best bits here are the nice cozy rooms. It's a mixture between modern and nostalgic wooden type of setting. Breakfasts are relatively okay, better than most restaurants there offer.

I'm not sure if the resort has recently changed hands or what....
The staff seemed to be living in the " lobby ". They are friendly & try to be helpful.
The guest houses were not clean at check in & appear to have a termite issue.
The view is fantastic however.
Skip the breakfast in the restaurant. It seems to be a person show.

When you arrive here and look at the views and semi detached rooms it seems you've done well.
However, things went downhill a little.
On arrival we were not welcomed. The hotel seemed to be run by two youths who accessed reception via a window. They did not speak any English. On attempting to get a hairdrier for my wife- I showed them an Internet photo of one- they laughed their heads off; I was perplexed. They had friends in reception who laid down with a duvet over them.
Room 4/2. The first thing you see is the lovely, and as it transpired, comfortable bed. The room is spacious. Closer inspection showed it to be grubby. In the bathroom the pervious guests half empty, lids off shampoos, were still in evidence. The patio doors needed maintenance, and were also tied shut with a rag. This was essential as anyone stepping out would surely have broken a leg, given the huge drop.
Breakfast was down many steps. It was limited, to say the least. Black instant coffee and some bread. It amazed me to then be given an excellent omelette by a friendly English speaking cook.
As we left a new (I think) manager introduced himself to us. I hope this transforms the hotel; with some decent maintenance and staff this could be very decent and not a bad base from which to visit the plain of jars.
Wifi was free but very hit and miss.
