We had a few day stay at this hotel while traveling in Xieng Khoung. The rooms are overlooking the endless beauty of Phonsavanh town. Oh boy, how amazing view it was. I took morning jog up and down the hill and the air was so naturally fresh. The best bits here are the nice cozy rooms. It's a mixture between modern and nostalgic wooden type of setting. Breakfasts are relatively okay, better than most restaurants there offer.

I'm not sure if the resort has recently changed hands or what....
The staff seemed to be living in the " lobby ". They are friendly & try to be helpful.
The guest houses were not clean at check in & appear to have a termite issue.
The view is fantastic however.
Skip the breakfast in the restaurant. It seems to be a person show.

When you arrive here and look at the views and semi detached rooms it seems you've done well.
However, things went downhill a little.
On arrival we were not welcomed. The hotel seemed to be run by two youths who accessed reception via a window. They did not speak any English. On attempting to get a hairdrier for my wife- I showed them an Internet photo of one- they laughed their heads off; I was perplexed. They had friends in reception who laid down with a duvet over them.
Room 4/2. The first thing you see is the lovely, and as it transpired, comfortable bed. The room is spacious. Closer inspection showed it to be grubby. In the bathroom the pervious guests half empty, lids off shampoos, were still in evidence. The patio doors needed maintenance, and were also tied shut with a rag. This was essential as anyone stepping out would surely have broken a leg, given the huge drop.
Breakfast was down many steps. It was limited, to say the least. Black instant coffee and some bread. It amazed me to then be given an excellent omelette by a friendly English speaking cook.
As we left a new (I think) manager introduced himself to us. I hope this transforms the hotel; with some decent maintenance and staff this could be very decent and not a bad base from which to visit the plain of jars.
Wifi was free but very hit and miss.

The hotel is a long way from town. There is no restaurant and so we had to rely on lifts from the manager to town or go without food! The breakfast consisted of 2 greasy eggs and some dried up toast. The butter was outdated by 6 weeks. We did manage to obtain a beer in the room via the manager. The glasses were left until the next day. There was no hot water until I made a fuss on day 2. It was then hot until the tank ran out (quickly). The shower also leaked all over the floor.
The wifi did not work.
On trying to pay manager said he did not have credit card machine and wanted cash. We told him we did not have cash and he found a machine. We never checked in or signed anything.
The manager has 6 dogs. I think he should consider giving up hotel management as he is terrible ( but quite a nice man) and run a kennel

Very far from town, kind of isolated but with a very good view. Actually we were the only group on this hotel. Wifi exists certain period of time, staff doesn't speak English and breakfast is practically nothing. Prefer a hotel located on the town.
