First time here - needs work

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 Sept 2019
I stayed here for just one night. I was drawn by the reasonable price. Check-in was fine, and I paid the expected pet fee (although I thought it was a bit high based on the condition of the room.)

The room had two double beds, a small fridge and microwave, a nice tv and a coffeemaker, and a small desk. However, the room was very crowded! Also, the door lock didn't work at first. The owner had to come and replace the battery in the electronic lock. The bathroom contained the toilet and tub, and it was VERY tight. The sink was on a counter in the main room. The bed was comfortable, and the bedding was clean. However, I didn't want to look deep in to the corners of the rooms. It could use a good cleaning. Also, the fridge didn't work.

Bottom line - not the nicest place to stay, but ok in a pinch, and for a short stay. The owners were very pleasant.

The beds were clean, the bathroom was passable. That said, goodness only knows what was splattered on the walls. Blood? Vomit? I don't even want to know. The smell of cleaner will smack you in the face upon entering the room.

One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in! First thing I noticed was the stained carpeting in the cramped room, which reeked of disinfectant. In the bathroom, the plaster was crumbling and the paint was peeling next to the tub.The tile grout was moldy. There were dead flies and dirt on the window sill. Woodwork was covered with dust and dirt, especially in the bathroom and the mop board next to the door, close to the bed. What passed for “servicing” the room did not include replenishing the coffee packets for the coffee maker or providing new styrofoam cups. There is no ice machine - you have to ask for it in the office, which also is a mess.

I booked here out of desperation - everything else in the area was booked this weekend because of homecoming, and a big dog show, and perhaps other events as well. But never again!

This place needs a lot of work.although the owners were very nice and the place was very clean several things were in need of some TLC locking of the door and the fan in bathroom are just a few.I don't plan on staying here again as I have health issues walking and I had some hard times with the room

We rode 80 miles on our bikes on our arrival day. Seeing the motel and UHaul sign was a wonderful sight! The owner went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. It was clean and very comfortable.

The burnt paint on the heater in the bathroom, the live wires hanging out of the wall where a baseboard heater was ripped off, the melted air conditioner, the mold on the refrigerator, the blood stain on the chair... The general disrepair, the lack of cleaning, and the barely view able television.

On a trip through midstate New York, we found we weren't going to make our destination, so we stayed at the closest place. What a mistake... The office smell should have sent me packing. The fact that the girl quoted me one price, and charged me another should have, too...but we were exhausted...

At least we had sleeping bags so we didn't have to touch the beds.

After seeing this crap hole, we're seriously surprised it hadn't burned down yet, and amazed that people have standards low enough to keep this place in business. Pictures say a thousand words...and should also be a few thousand in fines.

Room tip: Go elsewhere... Really, anywhere else.

Since your stay, The Starlite has received renovations in many of the rooms. New TVs have been installed in early 2018 as well as the recent Spectrum upgrade to HD Digital programing. Regarding the misquoted price, please understand that we quote prices over the phone excluding taxes. Any other issue regarding price I cannot rule over. Should you consider trusting us with your business again, we hope you have a much better experience.
