We stayed here for six nights in June '24. The best thing about this hotel is the staff: everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful. This hotel is a budget-friendly hotel, so adjust your expectations as far as your idea of luxury, but if you like a simple, clean, friendly, convenient, low-key, safe place to stay in busy and over-priced Waikiki, this is your go-to hotel. Did I say friendly? Tip: the parking lot is tiny and full by late afternoon.

Low key, simple, very convenient location, comfortable beds, clean, great bar, very friendly staff, with great location. It's not the Four Seasons, but you aren't paying those prices either. Will be my go to hotel anytime I'm in Honolulu.

This is my third stay at The Equus, and I look forward to future visits. It's in a very convenient location and has a friendly feel, as a smaller boutique hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything you need, and the free welcome drink at the bar is a nice touch. All the staff are very helpful, and Linda on the front desk really went above and beyond to help me get some documents printed when my travel plans changed - very grateful for her excellent customer service!

We had a vacation in June 13-20. This hotel really surprised us with unique service and friendly stuff there. It was unbelievably wonderful vacation. I want especially say about housekeeper Linell. She was superfriendly and paid attention to all requests that we made.

This hotel was a really mixed bag for us. The room was small, cramped, and the furniture all looked like it had seen much better days. There was hair in the sink and the air conditioning was way too cold. There was no place to hang a towel near the sink. There was no way to heat water for tea in the morning. All that said, the staff was wonderful - friendly and extremely helpful with taxis, storing luggage, and how to get around. We enjoyed sitting in the bar at the front of the hotel, which was like a little oasis above a busy street. Want to give a particular shout-out to Ben, who made me a perfect cappuccino in the morning and a great mai tai in the afternoon. Thanks!
Room tip: Bring ear plugs for the street noise.
