Our stay at the Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra was a good one, with a few exceptions. I don't understand why, in the Kona Tower, the lanais are only about 2" wide and the door to the faux lanai only opens about 2" as well. I was under the impression that all of the rooms had a functional lanai....wrong!! The Waikiki Tower had actual lanais. Also, there is not a single USB port in the room and very limited access to electrical outlets. Be sure to bring your charger cords plus the attachment that plugs into the wall. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom, so everything fogs up when you shower. There is no business center, which means you need to bring your own computer. The buffet restaurant, which just opened, is not worth the $20 they charge. Housekeeping will not come into your room while you are present (due to Covid), but you can schedule a time for them to clean while you are out. I appreciated that. The only ice machine in the Kona Tower was on the fifth floor and it was inoperable. If you wanted ice, you had to go to the 8th floor in the Waikiki Tower. Parking is $34.50 per day/prepaid and you are not guaranteed a parking space. One night we were told to park on the street or risk having your car towed by parking at the lower level of the Ala Moana Mall just across the street. We did get credit for the night we couldn't park in the garage, but we had to ask for it during checkout. The bed was not very comfortable. The room does have a fridge, a microwave and a coffee pot. The room was very clean and the housekeeping crew were very polite and friendly. If you are looking for a place just to sleep and shower, then this hotel is for you. It is close to shopping and just a short drive to the beach.More
