After a terrible experience at a nearby hotel, we booked a long weekend in a Ocean View Standard room at the New Otani, and we couldn't be more pleased. The room, while small, was clean and comfortable with an awesome view of the beach, park and skyline.

The New Otani is on the sand at Kaimana Beach, which is only a short (15 min) walk from Waikiki Beach and shopping. The location is perfect if you want quiet relaxation, but with an easy option for the nightlife and excitement of Waikiki.

The building is older, and shows some signs of age in the common areas, but the room was nicely kept. There are a couple of shops, a spa, 2 restaurants, a bar and a convenience store on property, which is great if you are not in the mood to wander down to Waikiki or into town.

The property is quite large, with several different room categories, which might change your enjoyment of the hotel, but the descriptions are very accurate and the prices are reasonable. I would not hesitate to recommend The New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel.

The hotel is in a good location if you prefer to be away from the crowds of the commercial area of Waikiki beach but is within walking distance of the strip, also you can take the hop-on hop-off bus to get you to the strip. The hotel is right on the beach and the lobby restaurant is open air on the beach front, a very nice ambiance. For the $10/day resort fee the hotel provides beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, snorkel equipment, boogie boards and paddle boards as well as surf boards.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms have a modern clean design, Asian type flair. If possible go for the ocean view rooms you won't regret it.

Room Tip: Go for the ocean view rooms, they all have balconies.

Nice hotel, not the best one on the waikiki beach, but cheap.

At the end of the beach, in a beautiful park. 8- 10 min by walk far from the main street of the town.

Restaurant with an amazing view, wonderful place where have a drink.

This was the third time we've stayed at the New Omani and wanted to come back for one big reason: it is in Kapiolani Park and has its own beach. This means that you enjoy all of the benefits of being in Honolulu with many places to eat and cultural amenities but you are surrounded by the park rather than the "concrete jungle" of the city.

This time we paid a bit more and booked a corner room facing Diamond Head Mt. Well worth it, if you can get it reserves since these book up. It looked like the room was recently remodeled. Everything was new and nice. The carpet, tile, paint job were neat and clean. The cleaning staff keep the room spotless. We enjoyed the view of the mountain and the park and had a large deck. We requested and received a high floor to avoid road noise. The room is very quiet. Never heard our neighbors. It was just a delightful place to spend our pre-Christmas holiday.

When we were there it was raining more than usual and so right when we wanted to walk to dinner in town a rain storm come up. That meant we chose to eat at the hotel. Very nice. The main restaurant is pricy, but with a view like that we didn't complain. The Japanese restaurant is fantastic. We ate there twice.

The only drawback was that we requested a king sized bed. They can't guarantee that. So we were disappointed when we walked into the room and saw a queen bed. We don't really sleep very well in a queen. To solve that problem my wife slept on the pull out couch (hey, her choice). Next time we will have to choose another hotel that can give us a king. But, we liked our stay and if you will too I am sure. The location, beach and staff are great.

Room Tip: Choose a high corner room. Water view may be over rated since you miss the view of the mountain and the park.

Quiet hotel with a GREAT staff that will meet your needs.
Clean rooms but small. Older hotel in good location at end
of Waikiki. Well maintained. Good restaurants. Nice shops on property, even a hair salon.
