We stayed 6 days at the Royal Hawaiian and had a very nice stay. The resort is the oldest in Waikiki but has been well maintained. The guest rooms are large with very comfortable beds and furnishings. The closet was a bit tight for an extended stay but it worked. Guests should be aware the hallways are not air conditioned so they get very warm during the day. The room a/c does a very good job thankfully. The resort is stuffed between the Sheraton, the Royal Hawaiian shopping center and Waikiki beach. As a result it is very quiet with virtually no street noise. The rooms are also very quiet. They don't build hotels like this any longer. There is a small pool on the resort but plenty of chairs. You can reserve an umbrella and chairs on the beach as well. The restaurant was ok for breakfast but rather expensive...welcome to Hawaii. The only downside is the MaiTai bar. Frankly, it stinks. Literally, it smells like spoiled milk or vomit. I would not order a drink from there it smelled so bad.
Overall a nice resort in the midst of the Waikiki scene. A good place to stay
We have been here for 5 days and can honestly say that we have NEVER EVER experienced a worst experience. This place is riddled with incompetence and mediocrity.
Cockroaches in the bathroom, careless waiters and front desk managers who couldn't care less.
1. Rude staff
2. Dirty pool toilets
3. Gross mistakes by waiters
4. Exorbitant beach umbrella prices ($50)
5. Prices vary according to staff members
6. Cabana price per day $175 yet little or no service
Go elsewhere. You don't deserve all this stress.
Worst thing is management when contacted showed little interest.
I participated in the 8:00 AM class offered to hotel guests. It was gentle and relaxing. Nothing too strenuous. I loved the opportunity. Recommend.
This is the right place for honeymoon, royal hawaiian as a cozy, and prestigeous hotel with those comfy rocking chairs outside. Fantastic hotel, rooms with bathrobes are so nice.
I absolutely loved this tour of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, lead by our fantastic guide Kehaulani - what a wonderful way to experience this vibrantly beautiful place! This tour offered me a unique glimpse into a bygone era of luxury and glamour by taking me back in time on an easy stroll through some of the lush gardens, the Coconut Grove, a visit to the history lined lower levels and offering me an invite to the exclusive Persian room, famed dancing and dinning spot for VIPS of the era. Kehaulani provided us with a detailed insight of what life must have been like for guests of the day while painting a vivid portrait of the hotel's storied history through many fascinating antic-dotes and details. The tour really gave me a valuable overview of a piece of Hawaii's history and is a relaxing and highly enjoyable way to spend an afternoon, soaking up the ambience of the truly special Pink Palace. Kehaulani is a Royal Hawaiian expert who clearly loves the hotel and, is passionate about sharing her welcoming Aloha spirit with visitors, making this is a truly memorable experience not to be missed!
The Royal Hawaiian offers a tour of the property to their guests which was amazing. Kehaulani led us on the tour, giving such detail about the history that you felt like you were back in time. It was so interesting. Whether you are a history buff or not, it was enjoyable.
