Great family style Japanese food aimed at locals. Not as formalized as Japan and not aimed at the Californians in Waikiki. Tasty food with great service at great prices. I was very surprised how good their soba was for an outlet of this type. Hele on down.

Ok, it is not really "hidden" although it is so non-descript that many people...including me..pass by it without even realizing that it is a restaurant. It might be termed a hole-in-the-wall place for Japanese and Okinawan home cooking. If that is what you are looking for, you can't do any better. The teishoku meals are good value and we have not found anything we didn't find tasty and satisfying. The Okinawan dishes in particular have an earthy, homey flavor. The staff is unfailingly polite, offering a bow and an "Arigato Gozaimasu" as you leave.

Great local family restaurant specializing in Okinawan food. Service, presentation, and value for your money is really good. The 2 choice teishoku is a wonderful selection - sashimi and tempura yummmm. The bean sprout and tofu champura was perfect. Parking is a bit hard to come by but definitely worth driving around the block a couple of times for. BYOB. Didn't see any desserts on the menu but after eating my teishoku, nothing else would fit anyway.

We always eat at Hide-Chan when on Oahu. The food is great. the service is wonderful and we feel like we get good value for our money. It's located across from Long's on King St. Parking can be difficult. The bittermelon tempura is a must if you like bittermelon. We also like the bittermelon cooked with chicken, tofu and eggs (champuru). The hamachi kama and miso butterfish are delicious. They also have a poke don with natto. It's like eating healthy home cooking that is very tasty.
