“Perfect apartment for an extend stay”

First of all, great communication with Mr. Jeffers, the owner. He was able to answer all of my questions and concerns. The room is very nice. I won’t say great because you are probably looking for a resort that is going to cater to your every whelm, this is an apartment rental. The bottom part of the building is hotel rentals and the top part is privately owned. There are some permanent residents here as well as renters. I liked the lockout that separates both units. My daughters had the smaller unit and my wife and had the larger unit. The check-in process was very easy. Make sure you have a copy of your rental agreement to give to the person in the parking booth, he/she will have your keys. There are two for unit A and two for unit B. We didn't have any problems using any of the keys.

A few tips: Since we are military, we parked over at the Hale Koa and saved a lot of money. The parking fee here is $25.00 for a 24-hour pass, we got a monthly pass at the Hale Koa for $100.00, and we were here for two weeks so we saved around $250.00. It was only about a 10-minute walk from the rental.
The washers and dryers only take credit/debit cards but there is a Laundromat in the back of the 7-11 next door that takes change. We buy those detergent pods just for vacation. They cost a little more, but can be packed in your luggage pretty easily. Of course, you can always buy a large bottle and leave some for the next guests as well.
There is a $5.00 dollar usage fee for the fitness room, which is good for your entire stay. I was able to get a pretty good workout on the machines, but didn’t use any of the cardo machines as we did a lot of walking and swimming while we were here.

Although the kitchen area is small, it included everything we needed and was adequate for us to cook whatever meals we wanted to. The only thing missing was BBQ utensils if you want to use the gas grills located by the pool (5th floor, walk up a few steps to the pool level). Previous guests had left some condiments and other items so there were items we didn’t have to buy. Saying that, feel free to pay it forward and leave items for the next guests. We bought two fans to place in front of the air conditioners to help circulate cool air throughout the apartment and it made it very comfortable. We opened the windows up a few times, but be careful as you will get a LOT of wind. The apartment is walking distance to a lot of areas here in Honolulu. It was a bout a ten-minute walk to the Hale Koa, which has a great luau. The Ala Moana Center is about a 20-minute walk if you walk on the streets but you can cut a lot of time off by walking along the canal. There is a nice beach across from the Ala Moana, Magic Island, that we spent several days at relaxing.

If you are like me, you plan on everything in advance. Once we had the lodging secured, we booked our flights and then started looking at activities we wanted to do. Groupon can be your friend and save you lots of money. We had a tour of Diamond, Manoa Falls, Paradise Park, and even a helicopter ride, all from Groupons. We also booked the Hale Koa Luau two months in advance and had the best table in the house (Table 5). We would seriously consider renting this apartment if we get a chance to come back to Hawaii. My only suggestion is this: If you have it in your means to stay for at least two weeks, make it happen. Going to Hawaii is usually a once-in-a-life-time event, take advantage of everything and everyday here. Enjoy your visit! We did.

The condo looks exactly like the photos that were presented. Overall, it was safe and clean. You really can not beat the price for the ability to stay in a place that was fifteen minutes from Waikiki.

Pros
Great value for the amount of space
Clean and had cable tv and convenient stores around the area, ABC store, subway, Waikiki cheeseburger
Manager allowed us to check in early when we arrived
Great to work with manager, friendly and courteous emails, payments for stay was broken up to two payments
Both rooms had view of diamond head, so if you are not up to leaving your room in the morning, you can still catch the sunrise

Cons
Parking was $20 per night vs. instructions of $16 per night, cash only, not a problem for me because I carry cash and expect parking to be expensive on the island
Condo does not come with standard hotel amenities, ie. do not forget shampoo, body wash etc.... Other condo folks have been kind enough to leave some extras around
Smaller of two rooms did not have a place to sit, only beds to sit on

Overall, it was exactly what I expected for what I paid, $150 for a night (only $75 per person) and one of the best values you will find if you are trying to fit more than two guests that don't want to share a room or for a family, still allowing parents some privacy. I would rent from the manager again.

My roommate had the bigger room, they are used to the hotel style, so I did not have feedback on full kitchen. It did look comfy for a family.
