Luana could be described as a "old fashion hawaiian" hotel. But it is this that attracted my wife and I to the place on our recent trip to Hawaii. The decor is hawaiian. With some great pieces of hawaiin furniture on the mezzanine floor and also in our room. Our room overlooked Fort DeRussy Park to Waikiki Beach through which was a short walk to the ocean.
Another good factor of the Luana is that it is almost on the bus stop of the "Beach Bus" stop. This bus takes you to all the beach stops beyond Diamond Head. However I must add that the person on the desk did not know this. But it was all sorted.
All of the staff were helpful and friendly and went out their way to help.
We had $10 US vouchers for breakfast. That you could spend at the in-house breakfast area or at the 'Fish Hook" cafe at the foyer of the hotel. We chose the Cafe due the variety of breakfast on offer and friendly staff were excellent.
I would recommend the Luana. But get a room with an ocean view. They are quieter.
Finally for you Aussies looking for a good flat white, check out the 'Coffe Bean Tealeaf" just over the road.
