We stayed here the last two nights on our way to another Hawaiian resort. We arrived at 11PM. Even so, the front desk staff was very accommodating and friendly. I reserved a Junior Suite. Although I am Platinum, no upgrade was offered as this was apparently the best available. Our room is on the 32nd floor facing Honolulu and has a nice view of the beach. There are many shops here with an ABC store conveniently located on each end of this very large facility. Breakfast yesterday was a buffet at the Kuhio Beach Grill at the hotel. Lots of choices. We had lunch at the Moana Terrace by the pool. Good service and good food.

As a Lifetime Platinum member, I found the service and quality of the hotel to be very, very good. The staff was friendly and attentive and took very good care of us. On check in we were upgraded to a beautiful suite with an excellent view. Given our schedule I asked for a late checkout of 3:00 PM and they gave us until 6:00 PM. The food was good as well.

The only complaint I have is my experience with the concierge. Upon arrival we sat down with the concierge to schedule some activities. By mid week we began to understand that she had up-sold us on a couple of tours that did not provide the activities we were looking for. The activities themselves were fine, but we had been very clear that we wanted to see/do some very specific things. The concierge assured us that we would see/do these things in addition to the activities of the more expensive version of the activities. We told her that we wanted some free time and she assured us the activities would end with plenty of free time. However, each day we didn't get back to the hotel until late afternoon. On the last 2 days we ended up leaving the tours early and pay in excess of $50 each day for taxis to get back to the hotel and do the other things we wanted to do.

I got the impression that the concierge was a contractor to the hotel and probably given incentives by the tour companies and was not especially concerned about the reflection on the Marriott brand.

So my advice is buyer beware and make sure you thoroughly understand what you're getting before you spend $4,000 on activities you're not entirely interested in.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean, everyone was super friendly. The pools were clean the sun was hot and the bar drinks were excellent. Waitresses are at you beck and call around the pool area for food and drinks. Your never looking for a waitress, they're always there. All guests seemed very pleasant and even the locals who showed up at the bar were great.

The restaurants were very good. The buffet had a great selection and the sushi and steak restaurants were very good. Our room view was spectacular.

The beach was right across the street, and set up the perfect day for beach in the morning and pool in the afternoon. The beach has plenty of palms for shade. Located in the heart of Waikiki, there is plenty to do. You can also catamaran off the beach out to the reef giving you a great view of Waikiki, Honolulu, and Diamond Head crater.

A car rental is on site if you want to day trip on your own. Defiantly recommend. Just load up on the sunscreen, the sun is hot and you'll burn quick.

We did have an issue with our room. They relocated us no questions asked. They moved all our belongings, we didn't need to do anything.

There are fireworks in Honolulu every week and you can watch right from your balcony. Entertainment every night by local bands giving you the ultimate Hawaiian experience. Don't forget to go to the aquarium and the zoo just a 10 minute walk from the resort. Also, try the local Hawaiian food.

Pricing is reasonable for the experience. ABC Store in the resort and has everything from food to drinks to lotion to clothing. Definitely consider it, you won't be disappointed.

We stayed here for 10 days with a sporting team of teenagers and parents and it was perfect for us. Easy access to the beach and places to eat. ABC convenience store in the lobby was great. The lobby was stylish and a great meeting place as very spacious. the pool gets crowded but is lovely and deep. Gym is well equipped. Laundry facilities are good. Staff are helpful. I would stay here again. Free wifi was great and not slow. we had four people in our room (2 adults and 2 teenagers) and there was enough room for us and all our luggage and shopping.

Room Tip: Lower rooms can get noisy from the street traffic. Both sides of the building have water views.

Stayed at this Marriott location for 14 nights on a business trip. There are some really excellent qualities of this hotel- it has a different "feel" than many other brand locations and has amazing decor and places to sit back and enjoy being in Hawaii. The rooms were huge, the views unbeatable, and is located within walking distance to many great spots in Waikiki. Overall, I would say that this is a great place to be on a vacation.

The only issue I had about staying here, especially for a business trip versus a vacation, was the exorbitant resort fee that really added up after a two week stay. I really would classify this hotel as a "resort" in name only, and most of the comparable hotels in the area do not have similar fees but offer identical amenities. It was a little disappointing because Marriotts are usually above the "nickel and diming" schemes. I didn't feel like the services offered in exchange for the fee were the appropriate value. The bar was also incredibly overpriced for the quality of drinks and service.

That being said, it was overall an incredibly positive experience. The staff- both cleaning and guest services- were immensely helpful and incredibly polite and professional. The hotel has 2 ABC stores so there's easy access to any incidental items you might need in a hurry, and it has some really great restaurants as well.
