We ate lunch here after touring a couple of the mansions. What a great location, with beautiful views. The food was original and excellently prepared. I had the grilled cheese, which was cranberry bread, Cabot cheddar (fun since we had just visited Cabot HQ in Vermont), pears and bacon, paired with pumpkin bisque.

Had a nice brunch with my wife here for our anniversary trip in October 2018. Beforehand we completed the final 2.5 miles of the Cliff Walk (then all the way back to our car) so saying that we arrived with an appetite is an understatement.

We really wanted to eat outside on the lawn patio but it was a tad too chilly and a little windy. Since we were one of the first parties to arrive for Sunday brunch at 11:30 we were able to pick the best table with a great view overlooking the lawn and bay, so we were warm and happy. However, we felt the hostess could have been a little more friendlier about our indecision, which took all of 60 seconds.

We had a Bellini and a Sangria and shared the Antipasto appetizer. It had a really tasty hard cheese, toasted focaccia bread, cured meats, an olive medley and some nice peppers and sun-dried tomatoes. We took our time and enjoyed the beautiful view of Narragansett Bay, with schooners and sailboats passing by.

We ordered the Lobster Hash and Grilled Cheese with Pumpkin Soup for our mains.

The Pumpkin Soup was warm, creamy and everything you would want out of a seasonal soup, perfect for an autumn New England day. The cheese sandwich was served on sourdough with a mild cheese, bacon and sliced pears and my wife loved the combination of flavors.

The Lobster Hash was one of the best dishes I had during our trip to Newport. The hash patty is held together with sour cream and is served underneath two expertly poached eggs with a generous amount of hollandaise sauce over the top, two pieces of toast and a small arugula salad. Absolutely delicious. Demerit for a very large piece of cartilage in the middle of the hash. This was disappointing and prevented me from eating every single atom of food on the plate.

After our meal, ordered two coffees to bring outside so we could enjoy the grounds and sit on the Adirondacks, but wanted settle-up first to keep the coffee warm. The coffee came first and we had to wait several minutes for the check. Since we waited the coffee became cold so we had to ask for a re-fill.

All in all it was a very nice brunch, great food, fantastic location & view but with a few service and preparation hiccups. Therefore I couldn't give it the full 5 stars. But I'd recommend a brunch or dinner visit for sure.

I recently visited the Inn at Castle Hill in Newport. Everything, and I mean everything, was outstanding. The service and ambiance were phenomenal. The food was out of this world. It may have been the best meal I have ever had. If you get a chance and can afford it then you should try the Inn at Castle Hill.
