There are great hostels and not so great hostels. This one is not so great. The most alarming is that the layout means that the two toilets on the main floor are directly off the kitchen and directly against the main little corridor near the kitchen, both with thin doors, one very flimsy.
The mattresses are really quite comfy but the bedding is really quite old. As someone else has said, my bed was re-set for the next guest by 8am. I didn't leave till an hour later and was still using that room and bed.
Lots creaks with age and could do with being fixed - most a very easy job.
Back to the house layout. Entrance is via a narrow, steep, former servants staircase which was a bit of a challenge with my hand luggage. Good luck if you've got normal sized suitcases! The house needs to be re-jigged so that the entrance is downstairs.
I left my luggage in the garage to go for a walk and get the car. The owner said she'd lock the garage for me. I came back an hour or more later to find it open.
And that breakfast? My choice was cornflakes, nothing more nutritious, and dry toast. No butter, only grape jelly (jam) on offer. That was it!
Could try harder. More
