The house is cute and very well located. That's the only good reason to go there.
First, we arrived around 9pm, she told us she will be there at 11pm for check-in. Alright, we didn't plan to go to bed early so we didn't care. When she came, she asked to pay the 2 nights now, but the Paypal website did not work. So she told us to go to an ATM not far away to withdraw some cash and pay her. It was 11.30 pm, but she really insisted so we went out and looked for the ATM. Bit it was broken. When we came back, I asked if we could pay tomorrow and look for another ATM. As we were staying 2 nights, we would not disappear or fly away ! But again, she rushed out to her car and told us to come with her to go to a further ATM. I thought it was very rude.

When we came back from the ATM, when we were in the car, she said "let's make a night tour of Newport!". The idea is nice, of course, but not at midnight when we were tired ! We were feeling locked in the car. And she did not listen to us, we could not speak, she was like a robot, talking all the time without asking us anything. I think this is the worst : she's talking all the time, telling you a lot of things, but she never asks questions nor listen to your request. She gives advice, but then you HAVE to do what she said. And sometimes she says wrong things, as she told us the price for 2 mansions was 35$, but it really was 21.

Then, we were feeling "watched" all the time, as she was always up no matter what time it was : at 9am if we were getting up early, at 2 or 3am when we came back from party... It's like you're with a Mother Superior in a convent !

The check out was terrible. Check-out was at 10am. At 9.30, she banged at the door like a crazy person, and yelled "girls, check-out in 30min". It was so aggressive...
Then, she rushed into our room at 9.45 without asking us, and took the sheets of the beds. BEFORE the regular check-out time. We finally put our luggage out of the room at 10.10 (ok, we were 10 min late...). Then, we put them into the car and came back to the kitchen to take our food and finish the milk and coffee we had. But we didn't have the time, as she threw us out, telling us "you cannot stay here, I have new guests coming". I mean, what's the matter if we stay 15min into the kitchen, even if new guests are coming? I usually stay at hostels for holidays, and we're always able to stay in the lobby or eat there, even after check-out. This is non-sense and so rude.

We never felt so badly welcomed. The rush to pay, the feeling of being at "her" house and that she could go into our room when we weren't there, and her rudeness, all these were really oppressive. For an expensive price : 110$ a room per night.

My friend and I really enjoyed staying here. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the middle of town, or the start of the cliff walk, so a great location. Very clean and tidy, with full access to the kitchen and cereal for breakfast. There was no one else staying there when we arrived so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. I would definitely stay here again.

Well-run, clean hostel located directly off the main street in Newport, RI. Shared accommodations are slightly too cozy, but the friendliness of the host rubs off on all visitors making it a pleasant living environ. Everything to see is in either walking distance or easily reachable by public transportation. Its also possible to rent a bike from the host for a modest fee. Additionally, the host has a lot of advice to on different ways to enjoy Newport and gives an evening tour of the area to interested parties.

I stayed here recently. This is like staying in someone's house.

We had a private room-double bed with sparse furnishings and shared bathroom. The bed was really uncomfortable. The shared bathroom was fine-it was always clean and we never waited for it.

Since the room was private, it wasn't super cheap-$110 per night. Fairly cheap for Newport.

The kitchen was nice. We bought breakfast food and put that in the fridge. Nice to be able to save moola that way.

One big downside-no parking is included and street parking is annoying in the summer.

This was more like a home-stay rather than a hostel. Very central location; everything can be easily reached on foot. The place is kept very clean and the bedrooms are reasonably big. A basic breakfast is provided – toast and cornflakes. Owner is very helpful with advice, etc. Although there is free, for limited times, on street parking it’s a bit of a pain having to move the car twice a day to locations away from the premises.

Overall, this is a very good choice of accommodation for anyone visiting Newport.
