Stopped here for some appetizers and drinks and it was a great experience. We found a table upstairs on an outdoor patio and ordered a cheese/prosciutto plate and fried calamari. Both were top notch. The calamari was tender and cooked perfectly. Great wine and beet selection as well, and very friendly staff. Next time I go to Newport, planning on eating here for dinner.

We had lunch on a cold windy day. Walking into Midtown provide a sense of warmth and welcome. We had the cod chowder, split the blackened salmon BLT and to IPAs. One could not ask for more. Service was attentive and the booth comfortable. A worth stop in Newport

We just returned from a tour of New England and Canada - or as I began calling it "The Great Chowder Tour." Having eaten chowder and lobster rolls from Boston to New Brunswick my husband and I agreed that the Midtown Oyster Bar was our favorite!
I had the Creamy Cod Chowder which was delicious with tender chunks of fish and potatoes. My husband chose the Midtown Oyster Stew that was entree sized with a tomato base and a bit of spice.
We split a lobster roll that was simple, buttery and filled with tender claw meat. Paired it with a few brews it was the the perfect start to our New England vacation.

Happened to pop in for lunch on a very busy day when the cruise ship let their people off to sight see. Even though the place was hopping, the staff were courteous, prompt in helping you and prompt service. Food was very good and a touch pricey but not too bad for a tourist town.. Had the lobster bisque and lobster roll sandwich and both were excellent. The ambiance was great for a Sunday afternoon with some football games on and you could tell that it was a somewhat local place as there were many residents there. Was pleasantly surprised.

Friendly staff; varied menu; interesting cocktails. Very casual almost bar atmosphere. Enjoyed the house salad with a cup of chowder; friend had the oysters and loved them. Our host recommended Midtown for lunch as we were shopping around in the area - excellent call! Enjoy!
