“We expected more.”
Reviewed 23 February 2012

We dined there last evening and although the view was lovely and the waitress was excellent the food was nothing out of the ordinary. In all fairness it was a school vacation week so perhaps that was part of it.

“Excellent Seafood”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

Went there over the weekend before Valentine's Day. Reservations are a must. Great food. Excellent wine list. Good sized portions. Get the "Bag of Doughnuts" appetizer if you like seafood fritters. Their scallop chowder was amazing. didn't even get into the desserts but they looked great. Order your wine from an Ipad. We went after the sun had set, but can only imagine the views in the Summer are great. Right on the waterfront.

“The Mooring may not be a place for a cozy romantic dinner”
Reviewed 17 February 2012

The service was good, but the food was nothing special. The dinning room was very noisy. Arriving on a late winter evening meant that there was much to enjoy in a view.

“Great location even in winter, nice selection of seafood”
Reviewed 13 February 2012

A group of us on a recommendation and were glad we went. Even on a chilly February weekend, the waterfront location was cozy and warm, as a crackling fireplace greeted us. Two of us had the clam chowder, which had more clam that potato and the other two had the chef's special, potato leek which they enjoyed. The soups were served with piping hot crusty rolls. Entrees were ample for us but others may considered them small. The salmon was grilled to perfection and served with rice. The lobster croissant was filled with lobster and dressed very lightly, letting the lobster shine. The Harvest Salad was tasty, crisp greens, dried cranberries and poached pears....a portion of lobster salad was added to it. Again, a nice portion, lightly dressed. Two of us ordered a house specialty drink, which one of the group did not like and did not drink. The server did take it off the bill. The group agreed that we would definitely return....there were lots of great options.

“The view is spectacular and the food is great!”
Reviewed 4 February 2012

In Newport for a girls getaway and had lunch at the mooring on the recommendation of the concierge at the hotel viking where we stayed for a january weekend. She did not steer is wrong. The menu is geared toward fish which I don't care for but I had the blackened chicken wrap. It was one pf the nest sandwiches I have ever had with granny Smith apples. Onionstrings and a sweet potatoes spread on a grilled wrap.Delicious!!! The sever was obviously in the wrong job and fogetable but it would not stop me from going back. Go. You wont be disappointed. Nice to be there when Newport is not overrun with tourists
