The sky against the aspens is the perfect backdrop for a smoky picture or a place to connect with nature and relax. It looks amazing in person. Pictures don’t do the colors justice!

First said, the road up to this hike is not for the fainthearted driver. Its narrow and brutal for if others will pull over and very step. But when you get there all is not lost with the beauty of nature. The hike is a nice path up a mountain starting with pines and then winding into a forest of wispy aspens. The hike is moderate and don't forget your water.

Fall colors were amazing! We went the first weekend in October and it was peak time for color. We went by 8am and the road wasn't too busy

I tried driving up to Lockett Meadow but had to turn around on the mountain because the road is horribly narrow with no real pull outs for cars to pass. Now that everyone drives HUGE vehicles, it is dangerous to drive because there's a sheer drop on one side, no guard rails, no real pull outs and even the small places that are a bit wider are few and far between. Also, too many drivers drive too fast and won't look ahead for oncoming traffic and find a wider area and wait. It is a wonder to me that there are not more deaths on that road. Seeing beautiful aspens was not worth risking my life for.

The county needs to make that road a LOT wider, add heavy duty high guard rails all the way and have signs that warn people to SLOW DOWN. The traffic is too busy at times for the road to be that unsafe.

Definitely worth the drive up the winding narrow road to the meadow where the Aspens are everywhere. There are countless picture taking opportunities... we had a perfect blue sky to frame the yellow Aspens. Parking is limited, the trail is well marked and busy with hikers. But everyone we met along the trail was friendly, polite and respectful of different hiking paces.
