Mike and Sally Trotter have developed a five star wilderness experience. They have put together an excellent staff, wonderful accommodations, great food, and of course, outstanding salt water fishing off great boats , and fantastic fresh water fly fishing. A great way for a family, a group, or couples to experience Alaska.

Room Tip: all rooms were excellent

Once again I was fortunate enough to spend a couple of days at Baranof Wilderness Lodge. Mike, Sally and their entire staff are in a word, great. The lodge's location is spectacular and only a short trip from Sitka. The food is fantastic, actually better than fantastic. The "Fun Board" allows guests each night to select the next days activity. The fishing is unreal and the guides are extremely knowledgeable and fun to fish with. You fish in relatively calm shallow waters which makes the days much more enjoyable than fishing in high seas at depths of 400 feet. Can't wait to come back!

Baranof Wilderness lodge is set in a remote and stunningly beautiful location a short float plane ride from Sitka.
The food, recreational opportunities, fishing and natural beauty are indescribably magnificent. The staff sees to your every need and desire with great spirit and professionalism.
I would highly recommend this unforgettable experience to anyone with the means to make it happen.

This Wilderness Lodge has amazing scenery, with Mountain lakes, rivers an amazing hot pool
The staff at Baranoff are fantastic, friendly but very professional and the food is delicious. And of course the fishing is plentiful and exciting. Mike and Sally are wonderful hosts and very passionate at what they do.

Talk about an on top of this world experience! Our trip started off with flying in over snow peaked mountains and landing in the bay! The lodge is serene, peaceful, and is surrounded by indescribable beauty. Mike Trotter could not be a more perfect Santa, unwrapping the next days' presents each evening after dinner. The "Fun Board" is a personalized list of options that each family or group can choose to embark upon the following day. Mike teaches about the ecosystems of fish in Alaska while getting everyone excited about the next days adventure. Why not go salmon fishing tomorrow???? Or for halibut? Or, fly fish in an Alaskan stream? Or, hike to the hot springs? Or, do some whale watching? Or, go shrimping, clamming, or crabbing? There's something for all ages. The staff and guides are highly skilled and world class! It was an unforgettable experience for our entire family.
