We stayed at Rannoch lodge for 3 nights. There were 4 adults and 3 kids (2, 5 and 8) i never rented a house before but we wanted space for the kids to unwind after running around all day. The décor is not modern (granny chic) but it was very clean. The place is huge, with a play room full of toys. I thought the large lodge room would be odd but we ended up spending most of our time there. The yard was kept well and also, huge with small hiking trails. The kitchen had everything you could want. The beds and pillows were vey comfortable. There is a lake perfect for swimming at the end of the road. They charge $2 per person and it has a lifeguard. They also rent boats there. The only negative things I can think of is that the TV's were all older models approx. 20 in. (the one in toy room did not work) . The kids didn't even to seem to notice though and it was too nice to stay inside anyway. The lodge itself was very difficult to find as our gps/phone service was not working well in the area. We found the road finally but the sign for the lodge is deep set in the woods and took us a while to locate. Get directions before you go, don't depend on gps like the reservations recommend. Luray is a beautiful place and the people were great there The lodge was located close to all, I would definitely stay there again. tip: drive skyline drive before dusk if you want to see bears!!! We saw three.
