First of all, I'd like to say that I have been a Motel 6' customer since 2009. I have stayed in many of their different locations all over California: Santa Barbara, LAX, Big Bear City, San Diego, and so on. I love traveling and Motel 6 is always my go-to whenever I'm visiting a city.
In October 2020, I was living in San Diego and at the end of the month, I had to relocate to Newbury Park because of my job. As this work project is temporary and I do have to drive back to San Diego for a few days every month, my boss decided it would be better for me to stay in hotels because of the daily reservation flexibility. See below all my stays since October 2020:
Oct. 22 to Oct. 24 (2 nights)
Oct. 26 to Nov. 11 (16 nights)
Nov. 13 to Nov. 16 (3 nights)
Nov. 19 to Nov. 25 (6 nights)
Nov. 27 to Nov. 30 (3 nights)
Dec. 04 to Dec. 06 (2 nights)
Dec. 13 to Dec. 17 (4 nights)
Dec. 22 to Jan. 04 (13 nights)
Jan. 07 to Jan. 11 (5 nights)
TOTAL SPENT: $3,751.81
*Note that I have always stayed away for 2 or more nights in between reservations.
With that being said, during my third stay in November, the front desk lady kindly informed me about their 28 days stay policy and I told her that...First of all, I'd like to say that I have been a Motel 6' customer since 2009. With that being said, during my third stay in November, the front desk lady kindly informed me about their 28 days stay policy and I told her that I was aware of it as I had stayed in many other Motel 6 throughout the past few years. I understand that as defined by the California Civil Code 1940.1, no guest is allowed to stay over 28 days and I obviously do respect that.
After that, the manager (only male who works at their front desk), started to make me feel really uncomfortable whenever I was checking-in or renewing my reservation. On every occasion, he would seem very skeptical of my return and he would always tell me that he had to check the system because I have stayed there for too long. Well, as you can see above, none of my stays come even close to the 28 days mark (16 nights was the maximum and I have always stayed away from the hotel for 2 nights or more), therefore, he was wrong every single time. Also, it is important to say that every other person who works there, always made me feel very welcomed whenever I was checking-in or renewing the reservation. He was the only one who did not, quite the opposite: I felt and still feel like I am being a burden to him. Today, I went to renew my stay until January 12th and as usual, he tells me that there must be something wrong because I have stayed too long and he needed to check the system. Again, he was wrong and I will be staying here until January 12th.
Needless to say, I have been feeling very uncomfortable with the situation because 1) I have never stayed even close to the 28 days mark; 2) I am paying to stay here, not begging; 3) I expected better from a hotel manager (especially when I have spent almost $4000) but instead, he just made me feel like a burden every single time.
I would like to add that I will be staying in Newbury Park until July (on and off as I have been doing), but because of him, I am not staying at this Motel 6 location ever again. If he doesn’t like to get paid, I am sure many other hotels in the area will be happy to have my on/off reservations until the end of July.More
