Thank you for taking the time to review The Lodge at Santa Fe and I would have to agree with you our staff really do take the needs of our guests very seriously and do a great job.
I am glad you enjoyed the food and position size in our restaurant and I am happy to say that with the new management we have in place a full customer service course has been completed.
We look forward to your next stay.
We have stayed at this hotel three times, and the last time will be just that-- Our last.
It has loads of potential-- It's in a great location in Santa Fe, overlooking the National Veteran's Memorial Cemetary; has loads of Southwestern Charm; a large pool and jacuzzi area, and (at least a plus for us) is pet-friendly.
Unfortunately the place is in really, really rough shape. It's like they stopped maintaining the place after the first time we stayed there back in 2009. On our last stay the list of problems were long. The carpets in the lobby were worn and dirty. Our first room smelled like mildew; the room they switched us into had a broken door. They then switched us to yet another room (yes, we had to move twice times) also had a broken door. At that point they tried fixing the door which ended up seizing up the door lock so we were locked out. The Jacuzzi was also broken. Great staffers who do their best with a run-down and neglected property. Avoid.
Thank you for taking the time to review the Lodge at Santa Fe. We are happy to know that you enjoyed the view of the National Veterans Memorial Cemetery and we agree it is beautiful.
We do apologize for the inconvenience of having to move rooms twice, we strive to provide the best service and accommodations for our guests and we have addressed these issues.
Should you decide to visit the city different again we would very much like to be given the opportunity to show you the improvements made.
We look forward to welcoming you back to The Lodge at Santa Fe.
I had a last minute business trip that required going from the East Coast to Santa Fe the following day...where to turn...HotelTonight. I was able to book my stay at the Lodge for $65/night. This hotel is not directly in the Historic area, but very close.
The rooms are not as nice as say the Hilton, but very close.
The bar was very reasonably priced and the food was really very good.
Ease of access - right off highway
Very nice staff
Stained hallway carpets
Keycard doors worked sporadically at best
Bathrooms are out-dated
My toilet broke
TV is old.
Overall, I'd definitely stay here again - at the price it is unbeatable...it would be fantastic if they could get some flat-screen TVs, replace the carpets in the Hall and update the bathrooms.
Dear Chris j,
Thank you for taking the time to review The Lodge at Santa Fe. Firstly let me say that I am glad we could accommodate you with one of our incredible current offers. I am glad you enjoyed the staff, Location, price, cleanliness and Decor.
I did want to just update you on a few of the changes happening in the coming months. The carpets are being dealt, some being replaced and all are being deep cleaned. I must say are already starting to look much better and I can't wait to have this completed. We have just received our first batch of new keycards that should improve their reliability and we are updating all of our TV's to smart flat-screens.
Once again thank you for your review, we are glad that you would consider us again for your next visit and look forward to welcoming you back.
Thanks - Glen
Hotel has convenient shuttle or you need a vehicle. Great offer- stay 2 nights, get 3rd free. Friendly staff in hotel , bar & restaurant. Interesting chapel & grounds, mountain sunrises were a painters dream- I'm an artist!!
Dear Gale T,
Thank you very much for your recent review of The Lodge at Santa Fe. We are glad that you managed to take advantage of one of our great offers. Thank you for your comments on our staff both in the hotel and restaurant/bar and I agree with you about the sunrises and sunsets for that matter, as a budding artist I also try to spend these moments taking in the view. We looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Thanks - Glen
The Lodge in Santa Fe was very nice and exceptionally Beautiful.. The complaints are big- Regarding the Restaurant. For Breakfast: We waited over an Hour for an order of Toast and small sausage. There was only 2 other customers there (i found out that they had been waiting near an hour)I went to kitchen door (as there was no other Employee in the Restaurant) the 1 employee in the kitchen, said it was unusual- and they were having probs. We left.
The other complaint: when we checked in,(we had previous Reservations for king- and they sent us to double-queen) as we were re-assigned from first, wrong room- we were going to get our luggage to change to Correct (king) room, and the office had cancelled out our first room and cancelled our key- so we were locked out of our bldg, and consequently locked out of our room (where our luggage was) lucky, we met Employee Lou Baker (she was our Angel) and straightened out the locked out prob- and then she ran back to office to replace 3light bulbs in 2nd room (which she had to use a ladder that was busted) we had driven For 11 hours to The Lodge
And all this was not a happy Anniversary Night.
Thank you very much for you review of The Lodge at Santa Fe.
We are glad that you found us to be very nice and exceptionally beautiful. However we do apologize for the areas that we fell short.
We have been working very hard in our restaurant and have a new Executive Chef and a new Restaurant Manager to address the poor service that you received. We are sorry for the confusion over your room allocation but am so glad you had the opportunity to meet Lou, she truly is one of our best. In regards to the Ladder she was using we have not found a broken ladder in storage but have ordered Lou a new one to be on the safe side. I hope that should you return to 'the city different' that you give us another opportunity to serve you. Thank You - Glen
I pre-arranged a one-night pre-program stay at the Lodge at Santa Fe which was followed by a six-night stay for a Road Scholar Program. I must say that my experience was not the greatest.
I made my reservation several months in advance for a king-bed room with the addition of a refrigerator as I needed to have milk and other food items available in the evenings. I also reconfirmed this arrangement and my arrival time via email a few days before my trip. Therefore I was surprised and upset that upon arrival that evening I was informed that no king-bed room was available and that I was allocated a double-bed room; they also had not arranged for a refrigerator. Since I had had the taxi driver make a special stop on the way from the airport to pick up items that needed refrigeration, I told them they needed the refrigerator right away. I kept stuff cold with ice until they could find one, but the guy who eventually brought it placed it on the floor where I could not see the dial. What I discovered later was that he had turned it to the highest setting and I awoke the next morning to find all my milk and yogurt frozen; the milk I had to throw away.
Add to this my other morning surprise—no hot water. Apparently there had been a power failure in the building that housed the hot water system during the night and the system had not “reset” leaving all the guests with cold showers that morning. I talked to the manager that morning about these issues and he did manage to arrange a king-room for me to move into and a staff person moved the refrigerator placing it up on the desk and adjusting the temperature correctly.
When I did the booking several months in advance I also asked several questions about hotel services but I later discovered I was given incorrect information. The website said the pool was seasonal and I was told it would be closed down by the time of my stay. It was not but as I had not packed a swimsuit I had no opportunity to use it. I was also told their shuttle into town ran from 9 am to 9 pm but that also was incorrect as the hours turned out to be 10 am to 8 pm.
At least my first morning got better as I met Lou, one of their shuttle drivers. She was wonderful, even going out of her way to take me to a nearby supermarket so I could buy more milk and yogurt. She said if I had any more problems to come to her and she would take care of things. I think she should be promoted into management as the place obviously could use more oversight.
The hotel strives to maintain a southwest feel and design. However I do wish they would not sacrifice comfort for looks in some stances. The armchair in the room is made to look like twisted wood branches and the ottoman is raw wood. While it looked great, it was very uncomfortable to use. Also the television is in the nice wooden cabinet but it does not pull out at all so you can only watch it from the bed, not from the chair. The housekeeping staff does a nice job though of cleaning the rooms and I certainly had no complaint there. The in-room Wi-Fi worked well and the television had a nice selection of channels including HBO. There was also a nice view from my room.
The hotel is in quite an isolated location but does have an in-house restaurant. For anything else you need to have your own car and rely on the hotel shuttle. Distance-wise it is not far from the town center but it is uphill walk from town. The hotel does not offer shuttle service from the Santa Fe airport; it was a $40 taxi fare so be prepared. There is a paid shuttle service (Sandia) that runs from the Albuquerque airport for a reasonable fee but it can be a crowded van ride.
For our Road Scholar program many of our meals were at the hotel and served buffet-style in our designated room. The banquet staff offered a fairly nice variety of food, although at times some of the hot items were not heated properly. I also thought the bread offered in the mornings was very bland and cheap; they could have done better there and perhaps included bagels or croissants on at least a few mornings. There was also confusion on our last morning. Our program included breakfast on departure day but when we arrived nothing had been set up for us. I’m sure what went wrong there but it was not a good way to end our stay.
Thank you for your recent review of The Lodge at Santa Fe. I am sorry that you did not have the best of experiences during your stay. Firstly let me apologize for having your room (including refrigerator) ready when you arrived and secondly that the setting were not correct when you did receive the refrigerator, We have since changed our procedures to ensure that this does not happen again. I am also aware of the situation with the Hot Water and the faulty part has been replaced.
As for the pool and the shuttle, our pool is seasonal and was shut down for the winter on October 1st however our hot tub is available year round. Our shuttle hours are 9am to 9pm in the summer and 10am to 9pm in the winter. I am unsure as to why you were given the incorrect information and am training staff to make sure we correct this for future visits.
I am glad that you met Lou, I agree she is one of our best and am so glad that she could help you on the first morning.
You are correct we are proud of our southwestern theme throughout but do not want to compromise comfort. We are looking to all of our furniture and will be looking to update any that fall into this category.
I hope that should you return again you will be please with the upgraded we are making to the hotel including new TV's and a new WIFI system.
I have passed your comments in regards to the breakfast and food offering on to our Executive Chef to investigate.
I am glad that we could move you into the king room that you had requested and that you enjoyed the service our housekeeping team gave.
Once again thank you very much for your feedback and we hope that should you choose to visit our great city again that you give us the opportunity to show you how our hotel and service should be.
Thank you - Glen
