Since we live in Santa Fe, we've never stayed at Ravens Ridge B&B ourselves. But since we've recommended it to visiting family and friends, we've seen all the rooms and have had the delicious luck to breakfast there a couple of times. In the summer we ate in the garden, so incredibly lush and colorful that it's hard to imagine you're in the high dessert. The sounds of the water falling into the koi pond, scores of hummingbirds darting from feeder to flower, the tree covered Sangre de Cristos rising gracefully: and all of this before the food! When we joined them in December, breakfast was served in a lovely sun room overlooking the garden. That vantage point gave a different appreciation of Phyllis' gardening skills, but the indoor decor--the sculptures and hanging pieces and whimsical or beautiful craftsworks--was serious competition with the scene outdoors.

Both times the breakfast was delicious, beautifully presented, and imaginative. I've never had eggs prepared in either of the ways they served. Both times there was a variety of fruit elegantly cut and presented and delicious breads. And super important, good, rich coffee.

I'm sure there are lots of places that have beautiful settings and offer lovely breakfasts, but what sets Ravens Ridge apart are its hosts, Phyllis and Judge. Their warmth and hospitality are generous and genuine. They are the nicest people you'll ever meet. Both of them are quite artistic, which shows in every detail of their home, and have an inner serenity and joy that shows in their smiles and their eyes. They are deeply knowledgable about Santa Fe in general and what's going on today, are happy to help their guests make the most of their visit, and love to share their enthusiasms. I'm looking forward to tagging along on one of Judge's astronomy tours when our next visitors come here.

Room Tip: Depends on what you like. There are no bad rooms here.

Thank you Phyllis and Judge for a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived we fell in love with our new sparkling clean and cozy home, nestled in the heart of the beautiful Snowy Mountains: just far enough from Santa Fe to experience the quiet serenity and beauty of nature and yet just a few minutes drive to Santa Fe and all the abundance of entertainment it has to offer. We lived in the Casita during the week of Christmas and absolutely loved it! Phillis and Judge genuinely care about their guests. When we were unable to leave because the blizzard forced all of the roads in New Mexico to close for more than 24 hours, Phillis simply told us to be worry free because now we are a part of their family and they will find a way for us to have a warm home until the storm moves away and the roads reopen! Needless to stay we were excited we could prolong our visit. We enjoyed getting to know Phillis and Judge, it felt as if they were old friends we have not seen in a long time. They love nature and have experienced many wonderful encounters with wild life and they have created a heaven for the birds. We enjoyed the company of all sizes and colors birds and Phillis knew their names and had a fun story to share about each and every visiting bird during breakfast time every snowy morning. Luckily the skies would clear every afternoon and we also enjoyed viewing the dark starry skies through Judge's large telescope and conversing about planets, constellations and nebulae no matter that temperatures were down in the single digits. We slept like babies in the warm Casita and watched the stars at night through the sky lights cuddled in the soft luxurious linens in the most comfortable beds only to wake up to enchanting view of the snow covered mountain hills and the gourmet healthy and delicious breakfasts! And the snow on the flagstone curving paths and steps leading to the bright colorful breakfast room in the main house were swept each and every morning! Phillis and Judge also know the best kept secrets about Santa Fe's museums, restaurants, events etc. - all you have to do is ask them. They will offer you a simple map with the 2 options to get into town - we loved the rout via Old Santa Fe Trail. They have also arranged free parking right by the famous Plaza and free museum passes for their guests. It was obvious that they love what they do! We enjoyed the beautiful Japanese style garden and one can tell it was well taken care even when it is all covered with snow. Upon our departure Judge kindly checked our tires pressure. Needless to say we did not want to end the stay at our "home away from home" and already are planning our visit for next December. Thank you Phillis and Judge!

A short drive from main attractions, the innkeepers Judge and Phyllis think of everything, including a parking spot for you at the center of town. Make sure to ask Judge to show you a fantastic view of celestial objects through his telescope. That made the trip for our 13 year old son, who thought this was the coolest vacation ever.

Quoth the Raven:
Absolutely fantastic. Located 10-15 minutes from the Plaza in Santa Fe, and 5 minutes from I-25, Ravens Ridge B & B provides pure Santa Fe mountain charm. Your gracious hosts, Phyllis and Judge, are attentive to your every need. They are multi-talented and their expertise is demonstrated at every level: from the recently constructed casita, to the decorating in all three rooms, to the wonderful breakfasts they provide each morning. Our visit was in the Winter, and we enjoyed the starry Santa Fe skies. We can see that Summer guests would enjoy the beartiful garden. This inn is immaculate and exudes Santa Fe style. Our hosts even gave my wife a birthday present!
