Our meal at Downriggers was fine, but not great. It seemed like they were trying really hard to be fancy or pretentious to justify their prices, but it didn't quite work. My husband's very expensive steak was precariously balanced on a tall stack of potatoes and broccoli. Why? My spicy mac and cheese with prawns was very tasty, and the prawns were prepared perfectly. But it was topped with warm arugula and bacon - the flavors did not blend well. They should not have been served together, let alone on top of the dish. The crab tots were good, but not great. Our server did not seem very happy to be there. All in all, it was fine and way overpriced.
