at the request of my sons we had lunch here. have to say - it was outstanding and this is someone who does not normally go to vegetarian restaurants. i had a most wonderful salad with an spinich, berries, nuts and a truly great homemade rasberry vinagrette. service is wonderfully quirky.

We were warned that Green was a bit more commercialized than the other vegetarian/vegan places we visited in San Antonio. And it was, but that’s certainly not a crime. Though its location, at the Pearl, felt a bit contrived, the clean and trendy marketplace seemed very livable, walkable and safe. The old brewery has been converted into fashionable apartments, shops and restaurants, all of which carry hefty prices.

The atmosphere was laid back and we grabbed a place in the sun at one of the communal picnic tables amongst what appeared to be tourists, locals, military and a few dogs. The server was cheerful and and seemed genuinely excited when we ordered the Korean Beefless Tacos* from the specials. She also was quick to offer a choice of dairy or vegan cheese on the Big Nasty Burger we ordered (which was anything but nasty - the chickpea veggie patty delivered a nice crunchy base with avocado, grilled onions, fresh lettuce and a tasty chipotle mayo complementing the flavorful bun).

* The star here was the Beefless Tacos served with rice and beans. Combining the right amount of heat and crispness on the beef substitute with a touch of chipotle mayo and some poblano ranch dressing yielded one delicious bite after another. The sliced jalapeños were the coup de grace, really turning up the heat. Thankfully the refreshing hibiscus tea we ordered helped keep us cool.

Had the mushroom steak and it did resemble a steak as it was salted and peppered like a real steak. Came with delicious potatoes and gravy. I also enjoy chickn parm and tastes just like the real thing. Enchiladas don't have an athentic sauce, the sauce reminds me of chef boyardee red sauce. What I crave the most are the cauliflower buffalo wings and vegan ranch. Soooo good.

Very tastey food, dog friendly patio and you can bring ur own wine for a small corkage fee. Right in the heart of the Pearl.

The place to eat whether a vegan or not. Start off with any of their appetizers. All of which will not let you down. One word of advice , top off your meal with any of their vegan delights. Choices vary depending on the day of the week. A definite destination when in San Antonio.
