“Great hotel, staff needs work on taking care of platinum guests”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 September 2011

We had a weekend stay at this hotel, and the property itself is excellent! VERY GREAT BANG FOR YOUR BUCK and the pool and hot tubs are first rate. The amenities at this property are better than many resorts we have vacationed at. The shuttle experience to Sea World was excellent, allowing us plenty of time to get to the theme park before they opened, (make sure you sign up the day before) and they were waiting for us when the park closed with ice cold bottles of water. Little things like that go a long way at a property in the states.
This property needs MAJOR improvement on how they treat their platinum Marriott rewards members, (we were paying for one night, staying on voucher the second). The first night we had a late check in, (which I called ahead to let them know of) and the gentleman working the front barely acknowledged our presence when we arrived, (around 11:30 pm). I asked if we got upgraded and he said we got a room with a balcony, (pretty sure they all have balconies). Our room had a balcony view of the street, and smelled of mildew when we walked in. It was so late that we didn't bother with complaining. The next morning I called the front desk and they immediately moved us to a larger room with a balcony overlooking the pool. I feel like the manager was apologetic and helpful in rectifying the problem. However, on Sunday I went to the front again and informed them I needed a late check out, and I got the third degree from the lady at the front. Once again I had to speak to a manager who let the person at the front know to give us whatever we needed. Had that been the end of it, I wouldn't have bothered bringing it up, but around noon we were in the room getting ready to go, with the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign on the door, and the cleaning coordinator, (I guess was her title, she was NOT cleaning the rooms, but seemed to be overseeing housekeeping) knocked and asked when we were going to be checking out. I informed her we had a late check out and she asked for what time. I told her to check with the front. She was not polite and I felt like we were definitely being rushed out of the property.

Stayed here this past weekend with husband, 2 sons and their families. We had balcony suites, which were clean, spacious, and modern. Loved sitting on the balcony at night, watching the pool action. Lobby was filled with activity areas and decorated in a fun, comtemporary theme. Pool area was awesome with pool bar open evenings and weekend days. Happy hour 5-7. Water was a little chilly for grandma, but the kids had a blast while we sat in hot tub next to the bar area. Staff was very accommodating, especially with the Sea World shuttle. We loaded it up with 6 adults, 2 toddlers, strollers, and even a wagon every trip and the driver was patient and helpful each time. Much better than parking and walking. The breakfast was a little expensive, but convenient and delicious. So easy to charge food and drinks to room. Grounds were well landscaped and neat.
Overall, we had an awesome time and felt like we were at a nice resort. I wanted a place that met my daughter-in-laws' expectations (both grew up vactioning at 5 star resorts), but still fit into our budget. This place was perfect! The rates allowed us to spend whatever we wanted on food, drinks, Sea World, etc. and the setting made us feel like we were on a luxury vacation. We all had a great time. We'll be back!

Room Tip: Second floor balcony suites 240-242-244 were awesome.

Check-in was smooth, fast and friendly service. Got the room and floor we requested, kids wanted 4th floor and we had a balcony view of seaworld off in the distance.

Room was nice, super clean and spacious. Beds had nice bedding and tons of big fat fluffy pillows. We had a room with 2 queen beds which we very firm beds. It was sleepable but it was nice to get back home to my own bed. The towels in the bathroom were hard and scratchy. It felt like they had been dried on a clothes line outside. Bathroom was nice and spacious. Mini fridge was nice but no microwave, you had to go down stairs if you wanted to use a microwave.

The market store in the lobby consisted of small snacks and drinks which were over priced. A regular sized bottle of water and sodas was $2.79. There is a microwave in this area if need to heat food up.

After returning from a super long day at seaworld we returned to our room expecting to have our beds made and the room all nice and tidied up but it was exactly how we left it, in a hurry and messy. But later that evening a maid stopped by our room to ask if we needed anything. So I got more hard rough towels for the pool.

The bistro in the lobby had a very limited expensive menu selection. After a long day at seaworld and hurting feet, we decided to eat in the hotel instead of driving off somewhere. We ordered 2 loaded potato soups which came with 3 small cheesy toast sticks, 1 ceasar chicken salad and 2 bottles of water and 2 pepsi bottles. Total came out to $35! Food tasted great and was filling but could be a bit cheaper.

The swimming indoor/outdoor pool was AWESOME! I think this is really what you are paying for! Spent most of our time in the hot tubs, there are two, one indoor and one outdoor. Swim up bar is awesome also. Water was a little chilly, especially if the wind is blowing, makes it feel colder. It would be great if they could heat the water. There are hard rough towels for you the use in the pool area.

This hotel does not offer complementary anything. Nothing is free, if you choose to eat at the hotel, you will pay for it. I recommend leaving and going down the freeway to the next exit and there are tons of restaurants to choose from. I was not aware of this until the first morning I attempted to find some free breakfast and was told “we do not have complementary breakfast here”. I was shocked, I’ve never heard of a hotel not giving complementary anything!! That was a bummer!

There is a really nice big Valero convenient store right next door to the hotel, walking distance. It’s like a small grocery store. But remember if you get anything that needs to be microwaved, there’s not one in your room! We walked over for drinks and snacks and bought them back to our room. Much cheaper than buying from the market at the hotel.

Staff was friendly, hotel very clean and well kept, awesome pool and hot tubs, but very expensive food and complementary nothing! Would I stay again? Probably not, I'm sure there are better hotels out there, just do your research. Wish I would've done a bit more research before booking.

we stayed here when we went to seaworld in san antonio. this is a very nice hotel, great lobby, and very nice rooms. most pools at courtyards are small and boring , but this pool is FABULOUS!!!!. it is large and especially nice at night- it has contantly changing colored lights in the pool. kids cant wait to go back again.
