This was an easy walk from the Peabody Essex Museum and we got seated quickly at a sunny booth for two for lunch (1pm on a Sunday). Great selections on the menu as well as specials. I had the hot lobster cocktail to start and the tuna sashimi for my entree. Both exceeded my expectations. There was a "bubbly" sauvignon blanc on the wine list that was a great compliment to my appetizer. The team wait staff were friendly and attentive. We then moved to the bar for a post lunch cocktail where our bartender created a relaxed and fun atmosphere (and made an amazing manhattan). As a seafood enthusiast, I highly recommend this place and I can't wait to get back there again!

When we checked in without a reservation we were told it was at least an hour wait. We decided to go to the oyster bar and have dinner there. Foror the appetizer we chose the raw bar.The Duxbury oysters were excellent. I have to say though, are server was so busy shucking oysters he had a hard time keeping up with all the patrons at the bar. They should have a dedicated person shucking and not waiting on customers. It was not his fault that every seat was full. Our seafood was very good.I would come back.

We decided to try out Turners Seafood in Salem and were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of food. Fresh fish options for all from chowder to fried to grilled to raw. Something for everyone and so delicious. I would highly recommend making a trip and reservations as it was crazy busy.

There are numerous good seafood restaurants on Massachusetts' northeast coast. Since we moved here six months ago, this is the best we've found. It is perhaps significant that Turner's is a very small fish market as well as a restaurant.
I can't think of a dish I've had here that was disappointing. I try New England clam chowder in every restaurant; Turner's is among the best. Grilled swordfish here was excellent, in a small plate that was not very expensive.
To my mind, the art of the waitperson is judging the clients: some want a lot of personal interaction; some, perhaps on another occasion, not so much. We have been served by several different waitstaff of both genders; all were excellent.
There are many restaurants near here that serve not quite as good food at higher prices.

We tried Turner for a second time a few weeks ago, after a bad experience the night of their grand opening a few years ago. We decided to treat our grand daughter to dinner before taking her to a concert. I wanted to give them another chance, because as a food service professional for 35 years, I understand that things could go wrong on a grand opening. Well, things haven't changed much. The wife ordered Baked Stuffed Shrimp. The Shrimp were dry as a bone and thrown on a plate with the stuffing strewn all over the plate, and the mashed potatoes that she requested were brown, which told me that they were old. My grand daughter and I got the fish and chips. The batter was good, but the fish on both of our plates tasted off. The fries were cold and soggy, and the cole slaw was very bland. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we got there, so that wasn't an excuse. We will not be returning there, and would not recommend it either.
