Beautiful property in a convenient location if you have your own transportation. We stayed in the older wing which has "character" but is in real need of some TLC. When we checked in at 3pm we were told our room was ready, but on our approach housekeeping staff told us they had not yet prepared the room. On our second day, we were out of the room from 9am to 3pm and the room had not been serviced in our absence. So othere are some staffing or communication issues, and those are resolved, and the spit and polish is applied (repair broken blinds, carpet stains) to this otherwise lovely property I would give it an unqualified recommendation.

Just returned from a campus visit to see U of A. This hotel was lovely, spacious king room & bathroom, nicely appointed. Restaurant has nice ambiance w/soft music, candles, fireplace on patio. Front desk staff were very helpful & printed out maps to help us find our way around. Beds comfy, room clean. We stayed in the renovated part vs. the "historic" part, but I would recommend requesting a room toward the back of the hotel grounds because ours was 1st floor, right on the parking lot and a bit noisy. Only drawbacks were that there was not a hotel guide in the room with info i.e. their restaurant menu, available amenities, nearby restaurants etc. This would have been helpful. But all around a lovely, relaxing stay. The pool area is so nice!

Room Tip: Stay in renovated section, ask for room not on the parking lot (towards the back of the property). There are no elevators for 2nd floor rooms, so keep this in mind.

We wanted a downtown hotel that wasnt a plain chain. This one has nice grounds, a good pool for relaxing, and nice old adobe rooms.
One downside is that the oldest adobe room areas mean that wi-fi is unreliable -- plan to go to the lobby to get online.
Fireplace was nice touch as it was easy on gas style.

Room Tip: See tip on wi-fi in adobe section

We were at the Lodge for 4 days the end of March and really enjoyed our stay. Our extremely large room in the older section at the rear of the site was very comfortable, clean and quiet. There was a large lovingly attended cactus garden in front of the room that was a gem. The mattress and bed linens were excellent. The bathroom was old fashioned and in need of a little paint and renovation, but having a separate tiled shower was lovely. The pool and hot tub area was a little compressed between buildings, but again - had charm. The separate cozy library/lounge was very pleasant. Couldn't connect our own I-Pads, but the hotel had a very available PC in the lounge. Restaurant was very attractive, with indoor and outdoor seating. Food was innovative and delicious. Watermelon gazpacho was certainly unique.

Room Tip: Upgrade a little to the older rooms at the rear, if you want old Tucson ambience.

The setting is nice with lots of charm, but it needs an update! The wireless internet was not working in our room...supposedly "overloaded bandwidth"....so...we had to go to the lobby for it to work and our bathtub didn't work either....both pretty important for our family!

Room Tip: Don't use a 3rd party...like Expedia and maybe you'll get better service and location???

Thank you for your comments and for staying at the Lodge on the Desert. I sincerely apologize for the HSI problems. We are in the middle of upgrading our system but had not completed the upgrade during your stay. No excuses. With regard to the bathtub, if our maintenance staff was aware of this problem we would have made the necessary repairs immediately or moved you to another room. I am sorry this did not happen and can assure you that this is an isolated incident.
I appreciate your informing me and look forward to a return visit as these issues will have been resolved.
