We just got back from a visit to this little museum in down town Tucson. There were two exhibits, one conected to the exhibit at the Tucson Museum of Art, "Who Shot Rock and Roll". MOCA had an exhibit of flyers, record jackets and adds for punk rock bands from the mid 1970's to mid 1980's. This is not my style of music, so the art depicting the music did not speak to me. But the display taken in context was extremely timely and connected with the exihibt at TMA. I had seen the other exhibit, so this was perfect for me.

The exhibit in the main room was interesting and actually fun to see. When we arrived we were given a sheet of paper with the name and a description of each piece. We realized the pieces were not marked, so we had to look for clues from the pieces to connect them with the description. This was fun as we were able to find enough clues in the works to connect them with the descriptions.

The space is nice and airy, the museum is easy to find and within walking distance to the main streets of downtown. The price fits nicely with the amount of time you spend in the museum and we were also given coupons for free coffee as well as a two for one to an exhibit at the University.

All in all this was a good value, even if the art did not "call you".

If you think garbage is an art form, this is the place for you. We were thinking exhibits like MOMA but this is extreme. I would be willing to guess 99% of people who go here feel ripped off. The large firehouse is nearly empty, except for a lone car in the middle and a few scant pieces of "trash" on the walls. The staff said this was "contemporary" art , not modern art like MOMA. I've been to museums worldwide and never felt so ripped off in my life.

The new fire house location for moca is incredible! The Great Hall space is perfect for large works and the music performances are awesome. Congrats, moca!
