By the time you leave the museum you will know much more about the Sonora desert and the plants and critters that live there. Bring a hat and sunblock. Water available at many spots so no worries there.

We visited this attraction because it was highly rated in TripAdvisor. We found the rating to be well-deserved. The attraction opens at 7:30 a.m. for the hot months of the year, and that is great, since if you go early, you can see most of the park before it gets really hot. Also, the animals or more active when it is cool. This "museum" is a blend of botanical garden, zoo and art museum, in about a 6:3:1 ratio, I'd estimate. Things are in a fairly natural setting, and you can learn the names and features of various plants and animals you will see in the area.

This place is mainly an outside attraction!
Be prepared to be in the sun a LOT! Make sure you have comfortable shoes, water, sunblock, etc. There are a few inside exhibits but we did not see all of them because we got overheated and had to leave. We were not prepared to be outside for so long, but we do plan on going back!

This was a really neat experience. Seemed more like a zoo than a museum. Lots to see and do! Definitely recommend to anyone for seeing what the desert holds as regards to flowers, birds and animals. Go early to avoid the heat. Do the walk in the desert first to stay out of the sun, but at least there are some inside exhibits to cool off.

Wonderful hiking trails around the exhibits. Appreciate the scattered water fountains. Hummingbirds and the prairie dogs are favorites.
