Convenient park and easy walk across the bridge to a nearby restaurant. The facilities were clean and the area was grassy. Estes Park downtown was minutes away via vehicle. A pleasant stay on the east side of the park.

We live in Windsor, Colorado and love to get up to Estes Park for camping get aways. We went up and paid for 10 days just before Spruce Lake RV Park closes for the season. We did not realize how difficult the employees could be to customers. It was odd how they were constantly trying to find problems with their customers.
The first thing was, a couple with 2 small yorkies had a little fenced area. They were told no fences allowed. The little fence was 1 foot high and only by their door encase the dogs got out of the camper.
Next a camper's son had a condo in town and he wanted to have lunch w/ his dad and mom at the camp site. They stopped at the checkpoint and were told they would have to pay a large fee to enter the camp ground. Then they wanted to, just let the father know, he was told he would have to call, he could not enter.
We had a run in with them, after paying approximately $1000 for our 10 days, we own a ATV on a trailer. My husband went down to Windsor and picked it up for the day. We had a great day riding and came back to the campground at about 7:00 pm. The check-in was closed at 6pm. We parked our truck and small trailer out by the entrance. We walked to the camper to clean up and go to dinner. We heard a knock on the door. A man started ranting that we would have to move that trailer immediately. We asked where could we park it and pay in the morning. He said " get it out of the RV park, it was not allowed. Needless to say the campground was nearly empty since the were closing for the season in a couple of days. My husband, got in the pickup and drove back to Windsor that night. This Campground is similar to a concentration campground. We were very disappointed with the very unfriendly employees. Employers need to know how we were treated! We paid for extra cars to park, we paid for extra people (2 grandchildren) to stay with us, we paid for our dog to stay. Non stop charges⁉

We (my husband and I) stayed here for three nights in September. We had a site right next to the river, which was very nice, and we camp in a tent camper.

The sites are very level, and we had a site complete with electric, water and sewer. An employee led us to our site and got us backed in nice and straight and got us situated. In the middle of the park there is a lake stocked with trout. For $8.25 a person can buy a permit to fish, and can keep up to three trout. There is no catch and release. There is also a swimming pool and hot tub, but those are only open until Labor Day.

A few things to note. The games that they listed in Woodall's were out of date and unusable. They have a mini golf course which is also unusable. It would be nice if they would get some new games, or have some that could be checked out at the front desk. It wouldn't cost them much money at all.

The showers could also use some upkeep. There are stalls for showering and dressing, but no shower curtain between the two. Water splashes onto your clothes while you shower. There are also no mats on the floor to keep your feet dry after you get out of the shower, either. The wooden benches in the dressing area are unstable and my husband almost fell off of his, as it almost tipped over. They need replacing.

Otherwise, this park is close to RMNP and other attractions. We were here during elk rutting season and saw a six point elk right outside of the entrance to the RV park. I heard the elk bugling (very close by) at 1:00 am, and also heard coyotes howling two nights in a row.

So, there are good and bad things about this park. But the bathrooms are clean and the staff are nice. It just needs a little updating.

Room Tip: Ask for a site next to the river.

Enjoyed our time at spruce lake.1st day got to see elk right on the property and hear them bugling at night!! Loved that. We had a riverside site but really had a hard time hearing the river unless we put our chairs there. Tons of room for 2 cars on each site but no trees to block the other sites.

Was somewhat disappointed in this camp site. It was close to the NP but not all there activities were as stated and the people were not all that friendly. My husband is a fisherman and was disappointed that even though they advertise fishing fly fishing was not allowed. The WiFi is a problem there and the only place you can really connect is at the office but the problem there is they close the office and store at 5pm.
