Loved our stay at Lighthouse View House. Owner Beth is extremely efficient and helpful. We booked very late notice but all paperwork processed fast . We loved the house immediately and extended stay from 3 nights to 5. Still not enough time to do justice to this beautiful area and interesting city and so close to Oregon we went across the border too. The view of the lighthouse from inside the house is stunning. Waking up daily and immediately seeing the lighthouse from the bed (in the upstairs bedroom) always had me saying "what a view". The lovely house is very User Friendly. It was extremely good value for money. Split level with a big double bedroom and family bathroom with full bath with shower over downstairs and upstairs is a large open double bedroom and large ensuite bathroom and the sunroom which is a sun trap and invites sitting and lolling and just watching the sublime view. Light and airy with walls of windows showcasing the sensational views of the Battery Point Lighthouse and the ocean, huge rock formations and beach views too. All spectacular. Downstairs is open, light and comfortable. Large kitchen is functional and equipment excellent. Dishwasher and full size frig and quality crockery, glassware. I cannot think of anything not there but all neat and tidy and spotless. No clutter. Dining area with large table and chairs. Lounge room has large sofas which convert to beds too but are firm and comfortable and separate lounge chairs near pot belly stove. TV had excellent coverage and WIFI was always good. Children's games, DVDs and CDs are neatly stored. Entry hallway has concealed laundry behind wall of cupboard doors. Having a huge washing machine and separate dryer was so helpful and easy. The ocean and beaches are a short few minutes walk from the house. The immediate area is lovely and the town is large and abundant retail and Fast Food outlets. It was still hot there in October when we stayed. Perfect weather. So much to do. Tides behaved and we crossed the causeway to the island and did the Saturday afternoon tour of the Battery Point Lighthouse which was wonderful and educational. Nearby the Sealife Rescue Centre had a baby seal in care, Diego, who had survived efforts by a shark to enjoy him as a snack. Found on a beach with huge bite in his midsection. Poor adorable Diego and his sad eyes. Smallest seal I have seen. But he is doing well. We drove thru the 2 huge Redwood trees. Exhilarating experiences. Husband not so sure but we made it without damaging hire car. Crescent City has very interesting and historical importance. Lighthouse View House was a memorable, unique and very restful experience. Such a perfect vacation.
We stayed here over labor day week. The place was clean and adorable. The views were amazing. Kids friendly and the ocean was just seconds away. Tide pools on the beach closest to the house and a short walk to the lighthouse. Beautiful yard, beautiful house. And two parks close by. Best vacation we have had in ages. Felt like home.
Lighthouse View House is a great rental for a stay near the Redwoods parks. It's completely equipped with everything we needed for our three day stay. It's convenient to downtown Crescent City for stocking up on food and supplies and only a ten minute drive to the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, which is a must-see either by car or by hiking.
