Description: We created Flying Star because we needed fresh, tasty coffee served in a bottomless cup, comfy seats with casual, competent service that didn’t get in your face. Most of all, we wanted a place where dessert was first and the food was something you could really get your taste buds around. And, we needed it served from early in the morning to late at night on every day of the year except Thanksgiving and Christmas. It would be a place where we could go to be alone or have a good chance of running into friends. That was 1987 and we’re still cooking and baking 24 years later.

At the Flying Star Cafe, you order at the counter, pay and before long, some very friendly person will bring your food to your table. I ordered the Buddha Bowl and it was quite good at a very reasonable cost. My husband had a lovely fresh salad and declared it to be very tasty too. The decor is fun and colorful, very relaxed, and the diners are a very interesting and diverse group. The menu is fairly extensive and offers breakfast and lunch choices. Bakery items are available too. I highly recommend the Flying Star!

Had breakfast with 2 friends after New Mexico Balloon Festival on Friday. Great place to eat. Large Menu with local accent to food. Restaurant was busy with balloon tourists but staff handled crowd very efficiently. Definitely would return.

As an Albuquerque resident, I highly recommend Flying Star (any of their several locations throughout the city) for desert and coffee.

The atmosphere at all their restaurants are pleasant. The Rio Grande location has a wonderful outdoor patio which is pleasant any time of year (they have a fireplace and heaters when there is a chill in the air).

But what I really recommend them is when you want to have a nice chat with a friend over coffee. Their baked goods are unbelievably delicious and large proportions. If you order cake or pie you may consider splitting with your friend.

If you like fresh food, healthy and good tasting then try this restaurant. Salad was more than enough to eat and the honey balsalmic dressing is delicious. Nice friendly atmosphere.

Beautiful pastries in historic nob hill of Albuquerque. Warm service and friendly faces. Lots of folks pluggin away on their computers, using complimentary wifi. Fish tacos were awesome and the bread pudding was more than I could eat. Loved it all.
