We were having trouble finding a place where we could sample traditional New Mexico cuisine that was also vegan-friendly. A couple of places listed had mixed reviews. Then we got a recommendation to try La Salita.
We were greeted at the counter with an additional menu that listed vegan and gluten-free options. Awesome! What was even more awesome was that they had vegan chile rellenos stuffed with avocado instead of cheese. Whaaat? And they were every bit as awesome as that sounds. Our sides were good, but that dish ruled.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention - they have a vegan sopapilla with a chili chocolate sauce. So good! I just wish there were more vegan mains on the menu.
