Description: Very new restaurant. Moved into one of the closed Garduno's after they filed bankruptcy.

El Patron is located in the former building of another popular New Mexican restaurant that closed their doors many years ago. The restaurant is perfectly decorated for the food and service, and there is plenty of parking in the area.

We dined in a large party of 8 people, and our waiter did an average job taking care of us on the weekday evening we ate here. Chips and salsa were served promptly, and they were delicious. Salsa was spicy and tasted fresh made.

Portions were generous; even the child's plates were too large for small children to consume alone. Green Chile was spicy and red Chile was flavorful. All entrees were served hot and were very tasty.

Bottom line: We will surely dine at El Patron again next time we want good New Mexican food in Albuquerque.

Visited around 3 PM to find a beautiful interior, friendly staff, but unfortunately the food, which was served less than 5 minutes from our order was horrible. The Chile rellenos where charred black on the ends and when cut broke off in hard chunks. The other meal, an omelette Chile relleno was challenging to cut with a knife, a sawing action. These meals must have been prepared early in the day, left on the serving line, and served to us with the addition of sauce to moisten.

We love going to El Patron! The atmosphere is really Mexican, there are usually mariachis or some type of musical group, and the food is excellent. They have a big menu - a lot of choices of all types of foods (not just Mexican or New Mexican), and we have enjoyed everything we've tried. We like taking friends there, and always look forward to the next visit.

Lovely restaurant, great decor.
Good New Mexican food, reasonable priced. ( we were there for lunch).
A group of us were celebrating a friend’s birthday, everyone was very pleased with their dishes from fish to taco salads.

This place has a great ambiance with real MM food. You won't find gringo food here but a great selection of food for all heat tolerances. And..... If you are a tequila afficinado they have one of the best selections in town.(try Maestro Dobel).
