The views that we got on the way up, at the top, and on the way down were spectacular. We wanted to watch the sunset while having a drink at High Finance, but we did not make a reservation. Fortunately, we were able to sit at the bar, but unfortunately you can't see the sunset quite as well from the bar as you can from the dining room. And if we'd made a reservation, we would have gotten the discounted rate on the tram ride! But it was still worth every dollar we paid, despite the freezing cold gale-force winds in the middle of January! This was my favorite part of my New Mexico trip. And FYI, they have dog crates in the shade if you're traveling with your dog and don't want to leave them in the car!

We love to tell our friends who've not visited NM that we're going to a nice restaurant while they''re here. We love to see their jaws drop when we get on the Tram and head to High Finance restaurant. It is an experience that none will forget. The views are breathtaking. During some summer months, you can also ride the ski lift on the other side of the mountain to get an overall view of the "other side of the hill." Bring a sweater or light jacket, though, and take it a step slower: It can get pretty chilly at nearly 11,000 feet, and the air is a little thinner. Bienvenido!

If the wind is blowing, you are going to rock, and that was ok with us! You can see it it all and since we love Albuquerque, it was exciting. People kept saying they saw wreckage of an airplane but I never saw it so...
I recommend this to those not afraid of heights...

We took the Sandia Peak Tramway up to the High Finance restaurant for dinner. It was dark, so it was hard to see the mountains on the 15 minute ride, but the view of the lights from the city was nice. We made reservations at the restaurant, so we got a discount on the tram ride ($10 instead of $17). The restaurant was good, specializing in steak and seafood, though a bit pricey. Good views of the city from most tables. It was very cold at the top of the peak at night, so dress warmly if you want to spend any time outside enjoying the view.
