I attended the Thursday evening rehearsal and listened to/watched director, Mack Wilberg work with not only the Choir, but also the Bells on Temple Square AND the Orchestra on Temple Square. They had a brand new song they were working on, and to my complete shock and amazement, performed it near perfectly only 3 days later on their Sunday morning "Music and the Spoken Word" performance (I was able to be there, too, it was recorded live). The members of these musical groups are amazIngly talented people, as are the organists and the two conductors. Just the other day, I was able to attend a recital at the Conference Center, where Clay Christiansen was extremely kind enough to show the group of us the organ, following the recital. He took his own time to answer many of our questions and show us some stops and give us details of how the organ works. What a terrific time! OH - and for the questions on "discount pricing" below, this is completely NO charge, so no special pricings are necessary. :)

We traveled over 1000 miles to see the Tabernacle only to find it was closed in part to accommodate a large reunion. A guide suggested we try an entrance on the other side just to get a look at the pipe organ. We went to the entrance but two women there told us it was closed until they would open it in another hour and a half. We begged to take a quick look from the doorway but they refused. One even walked over to make sure the door was completely closed to make certain we couldn't get even a glimpse. Those two women missed the chance to do a simple kindness that would have been appreciated and remembered. We now have another kind of memory. Too bad.

I am not LDS or a fan of choir music, but I really enjoyed their performances. They work very hard and it pays off. Really an excellent choir. If you ever get the chance of listening to them, do yourself the favor and go!

It was really a great time to listen to the organ and take in the sounds! Make sure to listen closely for all the small sounds with the loud bass!

Absolutely beautiful to hear and experience!!! During the summer and Christmas Time it's held in the Conference Center. The rest of the year it's in the Tabernacle.
