An intimate boutique hotel. Rooms are spacious. Grounds are well kept, great restaurant on site, modern pool chill area, and car service to get you around. Did they nail perfection on service -- not quite but some people at the hotel did stand out - 1. Guy at the front desk -- One of the people at the hotel who gets service. Great recommendations and always helpful. If everyone at the hotel acted like him this place would hit the service levels of the four seasons. 2. James at the pool bar -- Always on and ready to create a good time for his guests. One of the last true family men who seems to always be gushing about his "amazing wife".

5 Star Hotel in our book! The service and staff were top notch! The grounds and rooms were AWSOME! One suggestion (which I got from a previous review) was to stay in one of the rooms away from the other hotels in the front row. Our room was 083 (but 103 was also great). You will have a perfect view of the ocean / sunset! It is considered a panoramic ocean view (and is a little more), but totally worth it!

The stay there was better than we could have ever imagined! The suites are private and secluded and the view was amazing. The service was excellent from the front desk, bell captains, restaurant and the greens keepers. Everyone was friendly and professional!!

My significant other surprised me with a trip to Hawaii for my 30th birthday. We stayed three amazing nights at Hotel Wailea.

First, the rooms. The room is stunning. Very upscale, but still down to earth/comfortable. The beds are extremely comfortable. The bathrooms have luxurious tubs and open showers without walls/doors, very intimate. They also have a kitchen are with a stove and refrigerator. A television is in the living room, but if you're spending your time in Maui watching tv, in my opinion, you're making the wrong decision. Bathroom comes with hair dryers. Overall spacious, comfortable, luxurious rooms.

Now onto the view. Our room had a porch area in the back, with a table and a comfortable futon loveseat/bed with the most stunning view of the ocean. The property faces the west, so you have a highly coveted view of the sunset from your own back porch. My first morning in Maui I woke up, sat on the porch, and felt the most relaxed I have in years. It's just so peaceful and beautiful.

Also the resort is very quiet, helping to maintain it's tranquility and beauty. It is adult only, and mostly couples. You feel like you have a lot of privacy, almost like it's your own condo in some rich gated community.

The property itself is arguably even more impressive than the rooms. Walking through it offers you a little piece of jungle, gardens, hammocks, fish ponds. The architecture of the main building is pretty spectacular, transcending you to another place and time. The pool is gorgeous, with plenty of covered and open cabanas, chairs. There is a bar by the pool, with food and drinks.

Quick cons about the pool - it is very quiet, which I'm sure is good for some, but made it almost a bit blah/boring after a couple hours. Some music maybe, even just soft/instrumental may have been nice. Also although it doesn't get crowded, which again could be a positive, it meant for not really having opportunities to meet or socialize, or just people watch even. Last con, the pool closes quite early. We were looking forward to having a drink at night before or after dinner and sit by the fire-pit area right next to the pool, but not only was the bar closed, they discouraged drinks in the area after dark. So we're not talking late, maybe 8-9, and though we want to enjoy the beautiful pool, felt like we couldn't do so the way we wanted.

It should be said, though, that the concierge more than tried to accommodate our requests. For example, they offered to "make an exception" and send some champagne down to us by the pool. It was considerate, but overall I just think their policy should adjust re: pool hours. But the service in general was superb. As an upscale luxury resort, they definitely focus on providing quality, outstanding service. We asked the concierge for advice re: hiking, and she was very helpful, thorough and honest about her recommendations as a local, which we were looking for and appreciated.

A couple more things about the service - take advantage of it, bc it really is part of why you pay what you do to stay here. Valet parking is free. When you go down to Wailea beach they have a free car service that takes you to and from the beach, whenever you want. If you are going to a beach elsewhere, they will give you courtesy beach towels to use/take with you for the day.

Next onto the food. There are two things I want to say about food:

1) The cookies room service leaves for you are Delicious! I preferred the plain without chocolate chips, but both kinds are quite tasty.

2) The Hotel's restaurant, Capische, is quite nice. Very pricey, but you can choose the more reasonable items on the menu. The service here is quite good, unsurprisingly, and most of the food is wonderful. Admittedly some of the dishes we got were meh, but then some of them were out of this world. But the ambiance is what really makes this restaurant worth it. Whether you are upstairs of downstairs, the outdoor setting does not detract from the upscale feel. Just a gorgeous view before sunset, and even at night it's quite magical.

Overall a wonderful, impressive resort. If you are coming to Maui with your significant other for a romantic get-away, and this place is in your budget, staying here is an asolute must.

We had the most excellent time here. The rooms are gorgeous and extremely comfortable. We had a great ocean view and the grounds are lush and well kept. Pool is fabulous and the whole place is serene. Great place to unplug from it all. Drivers take you anywhere close by and we never had to wait. They drive you right down to the beach and your chair is waiting for you when you arrive. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Don't think about it -- just do it!

Room tip: Splurge for the ocean view. You won't regret it.
