Our family set out for Muir Woods at 8:30 am. After much hiking, walking and exploring, we were all famished. However, one look at the restaurant in the Woods, told us that it was not for us.
We remembered the close by Buckeye Roadhouse from decades ago, however, this being a Sunday (5/5), did not think that they would be able to fit in our group of eight at noon. One daughter ran in to check, and ran out beaming that they had the perfect table for us. It was on the second floor, it was round (we have a love of round tables), and it was off by itself (perfect if any little people got noisy).
We walked inside, and loved the atmosphere immediately. I think we came here 40-50 years ago, and if we remember correctly, this was a German restaurant then. We climbed the lovely staircase, and got settled in. Looking at the menu, we saw that we each could have four dishes (at least), as there were many favorites listed. My husband and I decided to splurge, and treat ourselves, each, to a “Ramos Fizz”. Have not had one for years. As they were made with a raw egg, once that became a “no-no”, they stopped being on the menu. That drink, here, was different from how we remembered it, but very good, and we enjoyed it.
Both of us had the Eggs Benedict, the younger people had the Artichokes, and then, “Crab Bennys”. The youngest ones had items off the Kid’s Menu. Everybody was very happy with their choices. We ordered coffee to prolong leaving, as it was so comfortable and pleasant. Our service was faultless. Truly excellent service.
The parking lot was crowded, and on Sunday (perhaps every day?), there is valet parking only. The valet, on duty that Sunday was just wonderful. What a sense of humor! We enjoyed interacting with him.
