Throckmorton Theater

Went to a variety show called “Not April Fools” that included improv, singing, storytelling, and standup routines. Great mix, high quality entertainment. All performers, as well as the audience, were 50+, and reflected the folks strolling around outside on a Saturday night in Mill Valley.
The Throckmorton sells beer and wine and cookies, and exhibits interesting art in the lobby. Great place.

Loved the surprise when Robin Williams showed up and did his unique comedy at the Tuesday night comedy club.

With great anticipation my wife and I recently attended a medley of standup comics as a birthday celebration. Of the half dozen, or so, performers (and the MC!), all ranged from "above average" (even by San Francisco Bay Area standards) to exceptionally good. Whoever does Throckmorton's booking, is to be commended.

As for the two who did not make the cut, it is suggested that "political negativity" be left to FOX, MSNBC and some of the late night tv hosts.

The price point for refreshments is slightly over the peak. That is, more "product" would be sold if the beer, wine and cookies cost was a few percentage points lower. This is easy enough to control: just don't order.

Acoustics, along with colorful ceiling and wall paint were better than the average comedy club. Seating along with a place to set drinks was adequate but not plush. It was a relief (unlike some clubs in major cities) not to have the staff constantly pushing the sale of drinks.

In all, the Throckmorton Theater provided a very pleasant evening of entertainment. I will go again!!!

many choices of types of entertainment, read their schedule to make the best personal choice. Seating is not that comfortable. Maybe bring cushion and or back support if you are concerned

Lovingly restored theater now hosts comedy, theater, and concerts. Always a pleasure with friendly staff. Eager to help find your seats or answer questions about the building. Easy to find in downtown Mill Valley. Arrive early to find street parking and get a bite to eat at the many cafes within a two block walk.
