Spent the evening here before visiting the Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse memorials over the next day. Good convenient location and comfortable setting. The breakfast in the morning was decent and overall had a very comfortable state. The other couple joining us was unable to make the reservation due to a delayed flight out of Denver and the hotel management accommodated them by not charging them for the night even though the reservation cancellation had expired. I felt that they went to extra mile to assist us in this unfortunate circumstance.

Good location, clean, nice indoor pool. Very reasonable rate. We enjoyed our stay there at end of May, early June. Hotel lobby has a nice western motif. Breakfast was just ok. Coffee machine in the lobby. Room, bath and TV were good. Desk was friendly and helpful.

I stayed here with my four year old son in April 2016. We drove up from Denver and chose this hotel because I had enough points to get a couple of free nights and it was very close to Mt. Rushmore. The room was just fine. Nothing fancy, but not bad. We got room 111 on the first floor. I didn't like looking out to the parking lot, but no big deal. The room had a standard size bathroom, crappy towels that chafe your skin, coffee maker a couch, two queens, tv, and all the standard amenities you'd expect.

The indoor pool was nice and a good size. There is an oversized picture of Mt. Rushmore on the wall that my son liked. There is also a hot tub in the pool room.

The lobby is nicely decorated with stuffed wildlife. Big buffalo head, mountain lion, etc. That's probably the best part of the hotel.

The free breakfast left something to be desired. I'd stick to using their pancake machine or cold cereals. Everything else is pretty rubbery and bland.

Overall, what you would expect from a Holiday Inn Express. Not too shabby, but nothing fancy.

Room Tip: Avoid 1st floor if you can. Cars park less than a foot from your window.

Stayed here June 15 - 18 with my husband and son. Perfect location allowing multiple visits to nearby Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse monuments. We were able to tour both places during the day and return at night for the lighting up of the monument at Mt. Rushmore and the laser light show at Crazy Horse. Because of its ideal location, you can do much in such little time. There's the 1880 train a short walk from the hotel and Custer State Park and other attractions are driving distance. The hotel has guest laundry which really comes in handy when you're staying for a few days. It also has an indoor pool. The scenery is really fantastic as we could not get enough of that fresh mountain air. The breakfast is excellent. A short walk away to the main street in Keystone where there are lots of shops to keep you occupied. A very enjoyable and memorable stay. Beautifully decorated lobby area... exactly what we were hoping for.

My husband and I decided to adventure up to see Mt Rushmore for our 1st anniversary. Since we were married in the early autumn the weather is sometimes chilling. We wanted to stay somewhere nice but quaint. This Holiday Inn doesn't have all the extra amenities the newer ones do, but the staff and location were great. We were there to hike and site see not be pampered. It met all of our expectations, the rooms were great and stocked with cabinets which allowed us to buy groceries and pack our lunches for our hikes each day. The town is small and places to eat are limited there so be prepared to drive somewhere else in the event you go in the fall. The town actually closes down not long after then end of September. We felt that for the price the accommodations were very good and the staff was extremely helpful.

Thank you so much for choosing our hotel and taking the time to place a great review of our hotel and town! We truly appreciate the honest feedback so we are able to tell what our guests are enjoying and what we can improve on! We are so glad to hear that you were able to explore and hike throughout the Black Hills, the hiking here is phenomenal and we love to hear that people are enjoying the beautiful nature our area has to offer! You are very correct in that our town is on the smaller side, we do have about 20+ places to eat, but we are also very centrally located to Custer, Hill City, as well as Rapid City which offer great restaurants as well! Also, the town of Keystone does indeed have a lot of stores and restaurants close down come October. However, the Holiday Inn Express and the neighboring restaurant, and of course Mt. Rushmore, stay open all year! So if your looking for a peaceful trip to Keystone, with the town pretty much to yourself, the winter season is a great time to do that! We hope you traveled safely home and that we will see you again in the future!!
